After an incredible career dedicated to students, learning, and laughter, we are honoring Lynette Grams for her remarkable impact on education and the countless lives she has touched along the way.

Since joining Mancelona Elementary School in 2010, Lynette has worn many hats—teaching music, Pre-K, and elementary students with passion, creativity, and heart. Throughout her career, which began in 1984, she has inspired and educated more than 10,000 students, leaving a lasting impression on generations of learners.

Lynette truly can do it all. Whether she is leading a classroom, encouraging a struggling student, sharing a laugh with colleagues, or demonstrating The Art of Teaching, she brings honesty, humor, candor, and compassion to everything she does.

Fun fact: When Lynette started teaching in 1984, Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" was topping the charts—and her legendary admiration for Richard Simmons has certainly been one of the many memorable parts of her journey! 💃

While we will miss her dearly, we are grateful for the legacy she leaves behind and the example she has set for all of us. Thank you, Lynette, for your dedication, friendship, and unwavering commitment to children and education.

Today, we celebrate Ed McCarty and his incredible career of service to Mancelona Public Schools and our community.

Over the years, Ed has played a vital role in the growth and success of our district, supporting two bond projects and helping Mancelona evolve into the district we know today—with three schools, a bus garage, athletic fields, and concession facilities that serve our students, families, and community.

Ed's dedication extends far beyond the school day. He is a familiar face throughout Mancelona, volunteering his time and talents with the Mancelona Education Foundation and the Bass Festival, DJ-ing community events, and officiating athletic contests at both the high school and collegiate levels. Most importantly, Ed and his wife, Cathy, are the proud parents of three sons—Steven, James, and Ryan—and several grandchildren. As he begins this next chapter, he is looking forward to spending more time with his family.
