Last week, the Manassas City Police Department, in partnership with our Prince William County Community Services HIDTA partners, had the privilege of celebrating the youth who participated in the Georgetown South Community Council Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation Badges for Baseball program and the Northern Virginia Girls on the Run program this spring.
These community-based initiatives demonstrate the power of collaboration and what can be accomplished when law enforcement and community partners come together with a shared commitment to investing in our youth. Through mentorship, positive relationships, encouragement, and meaningful engagement, these programs help young people build confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging.
In keeping with one of the four core principles of the Badges for Baseball program, “Celebrate the Individual,” we took time to recognize each participant's growth, accomplishments, and hard work throughout the season.
The End of Season Celebration began with an exciting team-building and problem-solving experience at Time Mission at the Manassas Mall, where youth worked together to overcome challenges, communicate effectively, and strengthen their teamwork skills in a fun and engaging environment. The evening concluded with a celebratory dinner at Great American Buffet, providing an opportunity to reflect on the season’s successes and create lasting memories.
This event served as a powerful reminder that when communities unite with purpose, passion, and commitment, positive outcomes and lasting change are possible. Together, we are building stronger youth and stronger communities.
