Dear Manassas,
My heart is heavy this morning.

I am so very sorry that this happened and that the life of a 16-year-old young woman was cut short far too soon. She had so much life ahead of her.

In moments like this, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to care for one another . We are connected by something much bigger: our shared humanity and our responsibility as neighbors.

May we hold her family and loved ones close, and may we find a little more compassion, kindness, and hope for each other in the days ahead. ❤️

Dear Manassas,
In a world full of extraordinary people and remarkable leaders, I am at peace knowing that I am simply a regular person, called and purposed by God to serve.

I don’t have to be the most important person in the room. I just want to do my small part; to serve with purpose, lead with heart, and help make this city we call home a little better, a little brighter, and a little more enjoyable for everyone.

That is enough for me. ❤️

Circumstances
By Diana Brown

I have found myself, from time to time,
out of choices just to get by,
out of reasons to keep trying,
out of creativity to figure it out.

But I have never found myself
out of faith.

Every time someone said I couldn’t reach it,
or build it,
or make it—
God did it.

I have come to know
that circumstances are temporary,
but God is here,
And I am tethered to His favor in my life.

When circumstances are bleak,
I have learned to be still.

For He is God.
