🎆 FIREWORKS SAFETY REMINDER – CITY OF MANASSAS PARK

🇺🇸 As we prepare to celebrate the upcoming Independence Day holiday, residents are reminded that the City of Manassas Park has specific laws governing the use of fireworks to help protect public safety and property.
📖 Manassas Park City Code § 9-53(a) makes it unlawful to transport, possess, sell, buy, use, ignite, or explode fireworks within the city unless specifically permitted by the ordinance.
🚫 The following fireworks are prohibited for use within the city:
• Firecrackers
• Cherry bombs
• Roman candles
• Bottle rockets
• Skyrockets
• Torpedoes
• Any fireworks that explode, launch into the air, or function as projectiles
✅ Certain novelty fireworks may be permitted, including:
• Sparklers
• Fountains
• Pharaoh's serpents
• Pinwheels (whirligigs)
👉🏼 However, under City Code § 9-53(b), even permissible fireworks may only be used on private property with the permission of the property owner.
🌲 Because city parks are public property, fireworks are not permitted in Manassas Park parks unless part of an authorized public display.
🎇 Organized public fireworks displays require approval and permitting through the Fire Marshal's Office pursuant to City Code § 9-66.
Please celebrate responsibly, follow local laws, and help keep our community safe this holiday season.
