SHADY REST PARK - SUMMER 2026 CLOSURES

Forest health and fuels reduction work is taking place around Mammoth Lakes this season as part of the Eastern Sierra Climate & Communities Resilience Project (ESCCRP).

Shady Rest Park and Sawmill Road will be affected by this work throughout the summer with public closures kicking off June 1, 2026.

Artist applications are open for Mammoth Art Walk.

Mammoth Art Walk is a new two-day art event coming to The Village at Mammoth on Friday, July 31 + Saturday, August 1 from 12pm–8pm both days.

We are looking for artists working in fine art, photography, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, textiles, mixed media, and other original handmade work to be part of this curated summer event.

This is a great opportunity to share your work with locals, visitors, collectors, and art lovers in one of Mammoth’s most iconic gathering places.

Applications close June 19.

Join us in giving a big THANK YOU to the awesome Eastern Sierra Adopt A Trail stewards helping out with the Heart Lake Trail!

From the Heart Lake Trailhead at the Coldwater day-use parking area, this well-used trail crosses Mammoth Creek and passes two left-hand forks leading to ruins and the original mineshaft of the Depression-era Mammoth Consolidated Gold Mine (both worthwhile sidetrips).

Begin your morning with a free breakfast and quick safety talk, then head out to give back to the trails and help make a difference in our community.

NATIONAL TRAILS DAY:
Saturday, June 6
9:00am - 12:00pm

MEETING LOCATION:
Sherwin Meadows Trailhead - 9:00am

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
Trailhead beautification, trail maintenance and delineation, landscape restoration, and general cleanup.

This summer, Mammoth Lakes Recreation is bringing artists, visitors, locals, and collectors together for a curated two-day art event in the heart of Mammoth Lakes...the Mammoth Art Walk!

Friday, July 31 + Saturday, August 1
12pm–8pm both days
The Village at Mammoth

The event will feature a thoughtfully selected group of artists showcasing original work. Mammoth Art Walk is designed to celebrate creativity, support artists, and add a vibrant arts and culture experience to Mammoth’s summer season.

And now — we’re looking for artists to join us.

Applications are officially open for artists interested in exhibiting at Mammoth Art Walk. We are seeking artists working across a range of mediums, including fine art, photography, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, textiles, mixed media, and other original handmade work.
