Community Resource Center

Community Resource Center We provide a myriad of educational programs, case management and referral services and advocate for immigrants and low-income families in need.

Community Resource Center (AKA Hispanic Resource Center) is a 501c(3) grassroots nonprofit empowering immigrant and low-income families by providing the resources and advocacy to help them become self-reliant and thriving members of the community. Community Resource Center (formerly Hispanic Resource Center) is a 501 (c)(3) community-based organization founded in 1998 to empower immigrant and low

-income families by providing the resources and advocacy to help them become self-reliant and thriving members of the community. Over our 25 years in existence, we have grown from a community initiative and referral organization to one that provides comprehensive direct client services and programs. In the past year, we served nearly 4,000 adults, youth, and children in three primary areas: Case management / social services; Educational programs and workshops; and Worker Center -job placement for men and women seeking employment.

Our vision is to help Westchester become a community that embraces diversity and provides opportunities for all of its residents.

Five years ago, Hurricane Ida devastated our community, leaving behind unimaginable loss and destruction. But it did not define us.

We rebuilt.
We recovered.
We rose together.

Today, as our immigrant community faces new challenges and uncertainty brought by changing immigration policies, that same strength and resilience remain unwavering. We continue to stand together, support one another, and move forward with courage.

Five years later, we are stronger, and we will only continue to grow stronger, together. 🦋

Join us as we celebrate our resilience, our community, and the strength that carries us forward at our 2026 Gala, In Times of Butterflies: Together We Grow.

Come celebrate with us on October 15, 2026.

Intern Spotlight: Lily Schwendener

“This summer I had the wonderful opportunity to work at the Community Resource Center. After finishing my first year at Fordham University School of Law, I was thrilled to put my new skills to work for a cause that matters to me.

Throughout my time here, I've been supporting the legal department, and I'm grateful for everything I've learned along the way. A special thank you to Megan Lahn and all the wonderful colleagues I've had the chance to work alongside.

Before law, I was a professional ballet dancer. I had trained for it my whole life, but a few years into my dancing career I decided to pursue my education, drawn toward work that centered on helping others. I'm grateful that path led me to the law — and that it gave me the chance to learn from and support such a remarkable organization this summer.”

As this year’s Summer Youth Employment Program comes to a close, we are proud to celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of our young participants!

Through our partnership with WestCOP, local youth gained valuable hands-on work experience, developed essential job skills, built confidence, and made meaningful contributions to our community.

One participant worked closely with our Programs Department here at Community Resource Center, while the others gained valuable experience at Paleteria Fernandez, Mamaroneck Village RX and Wellness, and STEM Alliance.

We are deeply grateful to each of these organizations for welcoming, mentoring, and investing in our young participants. Congratulations to all our youth on a successful summer! We cannot wait to see where your skills and determination take you next.

Our hearts are with the people of Colombia. 🇨🇴
A 7.4-magnitude earthquake – the strongest to hit the country this century – has torn through communities across western Colombia, claiming hundreds of lives and injuring thousands more. Homes have been destroyed, hospitals and schools have collapsed, and entire towns are now searching for missing loved ones amid the rubble.
Hispanic Federation, is partnering with Fòs Feminista Org, to support Oriéntame and Unimedicos, who are working to provide urgent healthcare and support to affected communities.
We have launched the Ayuda a los Pueblos: Colombia Disaster Relief Fund to support immediate relief and long-term recovery. Hispanic Federation and the Miranda Family Fund are matching the first $50,000 in donations, doubling the aid that you can provide to Colombia.

This past weekend, Community Resource Center welcomed the Mobile Consulate of Guatemala, bringing essential consular services directly to our local Guatemalan community.

More than 250 Guatemalan citizens received assistance with passports, birth certificates, marriage certificates, death registrations, and general consular inquiries.

The Mobile Consulate’s mission is to make consular services more accessible by bringing them closer to where community members live. We are proud to have hosted this important initiative and to help connect so many families with the documentation and support they need.

Thank you to the Consulate of Guatemala and everyone who helped make this event possible! 🇬🇹

Summer Reading Club for Children

This summer, children ages 6 to 10 participated in four weekly Reading Club and Crafts sessions at the Community Resource Center. Led by Sarah Fisher in partnership with CRC, the program encouraged children to discover the joy of books through reading, creative projects, and fun activities. Smiles, stories, and crafts kept our young participants engaged throughout the program. We thank Sarah for her dedication, patience, and kindness.

Intern Spotlight!

“My name is Holly Paul, and this summer I’ve had the privilege of serving the CRC as a legal intern. In the fall, I will be entering my second year at Cardoso Law School.

I graduated from Boston University in 2022 with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, I spent three years working in marketing before deciding to take the leap and pursue law school.

After my first year of law school, I was eager to find an opportunity to apply what I had learned in a practical setting while making a meaningful impact. When I learned about the Community Resource Center through staff attorney Megan Lahn, it felt like the perfect fit.

This summer, I’ve gained invaluable insight into the immigration legal system while strengthening my legal research and writing skills. I’ve had the opportunity to sit in on client meetings, research filing requirements and legal strategy, and draft motions for submission to the court. Most importantly, I’ve seen firsthand the difference that dedicated legal advocates can make in the lives of their clients.

A huge thank you to Rose, Megan Lahn, the legal team, and everyone at the Community Resource Center for making this such a rewarding and memorable experience. I’m incredibly grateful for everything I’ve learned this summer!”
