From Melissa in Westchester: 1. HEALTHCARE COSTS: The Senate will vote TODAY on 2 Affordable Care
Act subsidy extension proposals - the final effort to prevent
healthcare premiums from skyrocketing starting January 1st. There are
2 plans up for consideration - a Dem. proposal to extend the
Affordable Care Act premium tax credits for another 3 years (the
cleanest/easiest way to go), and a Rep. plan that does not do that nor
accomplish affordable health care insurance (plus it includes new
restrictions on abortion care). It will be touch for either one to get
even close to the 60 votes needed to break a filibuster, but contact
your Senators here THIS MORNING:
https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm

2. ENVIRONMENT: The House is set to undermine important environmental
protections, as they plan to hold floor votes on bill HR 3898 (the
PERMIT Act) which would critically weaken the Clean Water Act. The
former would exclude vast areas of waters from environmental
protection and allow corporate polluters to release 'forever
chemicals' into waterways without informing regulators as well as free
up factory farms to discharge toxic waste and pesticides. Click here

3. BILLBOARDS: Help the group The Visibility Brigade amplify its
message about the crisis we are facing in the U.S. There are hundreds
of VB groups across the country and new ones are forming every day.
They post pro-democracy messages on overpasses and other public
spaces. Their theory is that people need 'social proof' to remind and
inform them how to respond to the crisis. They suggest simple actions
that people can take (this is right up my alley!) to support democracy
and candidates. Click here to find out more:

5. POSTCARDS:

a) To reps: Click here to write cards for the above group Activate
America, focusing on health care affordability into key House
districts in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Arizona to let
people know what their representatives are up to on this matter. Click
here: https://www.activateamerica.vote/postcards/?utm_source=rogan%27slist&utm_medium=email

(b) To voters: Click here to write cards to help combat disinformation
and make sure voters in Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Michigan and North
Carolina learn how harmful the Trump/GOP agenda is for them. These
states have the most competitive Senate elections in 2026. Click here:

6. BRIBERY: Tell your Senators to co-sponsor and/or support the new a
newly introduced bill S. 3191 (the Stop Ballroom Bribery Act) which
would restrict donations for certain public projects linked to the
President or Vice President, particularly from entities involved in
litigation or seeking contracts with the federal government. For
example, Trump’s ballroom project. Contact your Senators here:
https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm

7. FIGHT FOX: Last month the Media & Democracy Project submitted a
petition to the Federal Communications Commission seeking to deny Fox
News Network's renewal application for the company’s satellite uplink
license. Fox News used its satellite access to knowingly broadcast
false information tied to the 2020 election. Fox (and its most senior
leadership, including Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch) lacks the character
qualifications to remain an FCC licensee. Help this endeavor - the
Media & Democracy Project needs to hire attorneys to fight this fight
on behalf of a better-informed America. Donate here:

8. NEW YORK / HEALTHCARE: If you live in the state of NY, contact Gov.
Kathy Hochul ASAP and ask her to sign these bills. Call her at (518)
474-8390 or email her at
https://www.governor.ny.gov/content/governor-contact-form

(a) The NY Health Information Privacy Act (bills A. 2141 and S. 929)
to prohibit the sale of NYers electronic health data, require
affirmative consent for such data to be processed, etc.

(b) The Furthering Legal Protections for Gender Affirming Care and
Reproductive Health Care Act (bills A. 5480 and S. 4914) to create
stronger protections for reproductive health care and gender affirming
care providers, patients and helpers.

(c) The Medical Aid in Dying Act (bills A. 136 and S. 138) to allow
terminally ill, mentally capable, adults to request life-ending
medication from a doctor.

9. INDIANA / GERRYMANDERING: The Indiana House of Reps just passed
bill HB 1032, their version of Trump's push to gerrymander
congressional districts to rig the House race in 2026 (Republicans are
trying to remove 2 Dem. seats there). Now the bill is being considered
before the state senate, there is a chance to block the unfair maps.

From Joe: Go Joe Go!!!
Joe released his roadmap on how to reopen schools safely, saying that “the decision about when to reopen safely should be made by state, tribal, and local officials, based on science and ... with the safety of students and educators in mind.”

After Trump attacked the CDC and the public health experts who should be guiding our response to COVID-19, Joe released a statement saying that Trump "is undercutting our response to this unprecedented crisis at every turn and it’s costing Americans their jobs and their lives.”

Joe also released a statement on the passing of John Lewis, calling him “truly a one-of-a-kind, a moral compass who always knew where to point us and which direction to march.”

The campaign announced key staff hires in Colorado, New Hampshire, Nebraska, and Ohio – including Obama-Biden alumni, staffers from each state and various state and local races.

A new ABC News/ Washington Post poll shows Joe leading Trump nationally by 15 points, 55% to 40%. And a new Fox News poll shows Joe beating Trump by eight points nationally.

JOE’S TWEETS TO AMPLIFY

: The hard truth is that it didn’t have to be this bad, but Donald Trump ignored the experts and refused to take action. He has failed our nation.

: I know of no man with more courage than John Lewis. He was a giant walking among us. When I saw him, I couldn’t help but think one thing: “I haven’t done enough.” May his life and legacy inspire every one of us to strive for justice, equality and what is right.

: Eleven. That's how many times we've broken the single-day record for new COVID-19 cases in the last month. This virus isn't going to "just disappear" like President Trump wants. It's surging — and we need real leadership from this White House to slow its spread.

From Betty:Guiding principles from Joe Biden!

Joe's Campaign Code When I was growing up, my mom used to always tell me, “Joey, no one is better than you. Everyone is your equal, and everyone is equal to you.” It wasn’t just a line; it was a code for us to live by—the guardrails our family put in place to help guide our words, our though...

From Pat and Phil in PA:
Even with unprecedented job losses and a bruising recession, investors and betting markets are still putting their money on President Trump to win re-election in November, Axios Markets editor Dion Rabouin writes. Joe Biden holds a sizable lead in most national and individual swing state polls.

And Trump hasn't gotten the bump that often comes from national catastrophes, as Americans typically rally around the flag and the president. But money managers still expect Trump to keep the White House in November.
In a late April survey of U.S.-based investors with at least $1 million of assets, UBS found that 53% said they planned to vote for Biden.
But 52% think Trump will win.
The world's most popular betting destinations still show Trump as the clear favorite.

The RealClearPolitics average of betting websites gives the advantage to Trump with an average spread of 8.2 as of last night.
Casino sportsbooks are paying around $83 for winning bets on Trump vs. $135 for winning bets on Biden, making Biden the unequivocal underdog, according to the gambling site Bovada.
What we're hearing: The expectation for Trump to triumph seems to largely reflect optimism about the economy once various state and local lockdown orders end, economists say.

"We can’t expect that the economy is going to be in very good shape, although the trajectory ought to be pretty positive by November," Steve Skancke, who worked in Treasury, NSC and economic policy jobs in the Nixon, Ford, Carter and Reagan administrations, tells Axios.
As November approaches, it's "more than likely we’re going to see a positive stock market and there will be positive job growth," adds Skancke, now chief economic advisor at wealth manager Keel Point.
The bottom line: "The wild card obviously is the virus and the [potential] vaccine," Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Investor Service, tells Axios.

"And that’s a very significant wild card both on the downside and the upside."
