๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™ Borough Bestie of the Month: Sonny! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

Meet Sonny, a corgi with big ears, a huge heart, and a smile that makes friends wherever he goes.

His family says it's impossible to walk through town without someone stopping to say hello. Sonny loves attention, loves meeting people, and is always ready to brighten someone's day.

When he's not exploring Malvern, he's hanging out with his best friend Edgar the cat. Whether Edgar thinks he's a dog or Sonny thinks he's a cat is still up for debateโ€”but their matching short legs make them quite the duo.

A recent Malvern resident, Sonny and his family have quickly fallen in love with the borough. He's also a proud Philly sports fan and, in his words, was born to bleed green. ๐Ÿฆ…

You might even spot him at the Flying Pig from time to timeโ€”but don't worry, Sonny will make sure you stop and say hello.

Congratulations to Sonny, our newest Borough Bestie! ๐Ÿถ
and let's say a BIG MALVERN Welcome to Mom & Dad Leah and Chad!

Today is Flashback Friday!
๐Ÿ’ง Did you know Malvern once operated its own water system for nearly 100 years?

Before modern regional utilities, Malvern residents relied on a borough-owned waterworks system centered around a wooden water tank and later two towering iron standpipes on Roberts Lane. The borough expanded its water infrastructure throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s to meet the needs of a growing community. In 1909, a second 80-foot-tall standpipe was added, helping provide reliable water service for decades.

Malvern continued operating its municipal water system until 1994, when it was sold to what is now Aqua Pennsylvania. Today, only the historic pump house in Randolph Woods and a pair of bookends made from the original standpipes remain as reminders of Malvern's century of independent water service.

Special update from our Bird Committee:

๐Ÿฆ In the Battlefield area, a dedicated bluebird mom recently stayed put in her nest box even after a gentle knock before inspection. The good news? All of her babies survived the recent heat wave and have successfully fledged! We like to think they may have headed out to enjoy the Memorial Day Parade.

๐Ÿฆ At Borough Hall, volunteers noticed there wasn't much nesting material available that bluebirds prefer. After adding dried meadow grass (another favorite is pine needles), a pair has already begun building a nest.

Check out the latest photos from our bluebird monitors and join us tonight
June 11 , to learn more about the environmental projects happening throughout the Borough.
