From everyone at East Whiteland Volunteer Fire Company, please join us in congratulating Brian Hughes on his retirement from East Whiteland Township after more than 30 years of service!

Brian’s final shift was Friday, September 4th, marking the end of an incredible career that began in East Whiteland in 1994. During his tenure, Brian wore just about every hat imaginable — Police Officer, Firefighter, and Emergency Medical Technician.

Brian, from your very first shift to your last, you helped shape our community and make East Whiteland the place it is today. More than three decades of service is a remarkable commitment, and our community is better because of it.

Congratulations on your retirement, Brian! We wish you all the best in this next chapter. 🚒

A massive thank you to The Home Depot Manager Bill Rogers and 3 dedicated volunteers for rolling up their sleeves to help with a station work detail today.

It takes a true community effort to get things done. Between the hands-on time and effort from volunteers, the generous support from Home Depot, and the valuable cooperation and assistance from career staff and East Whiteland Township Public Works, a lot was accomplished today.

Officers responded to the area of Route 29 (Morehall Rd) and Flat Rd for a sinkhole that developed in the travel lanes of Route 29. Penndot responded and is assessing the situation. Preliminary, some portion of Route 29 will be closed to traffic in the northbound direction immediately. This could lead to both directions being closed pending Penndot’s decision. If possible, please try to avoid this area. We will update as information becomes available.

A huge thank you to this amazing group from Westgate Village!

They stopped by Station 5 yesterday to present a donation raised entirely from their own local lemonade stand. During their visit, the they got a behind-the-scenes look at what we do and checked out some of the tools we use every day to keep our community safe.

Reminder! Starting 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘁 𝟵 𝗮.𝗺. the 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 will be closed through 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝘂𝗴. 𝟭𝟰, for construction.

A signed detour will be in place, and the Chester Valley Trail will remain open. Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs.

Seeing Haze? Here’s What You Need to Know:

If you have noticed a hazy sky or a faint smell of smoke, it is due to wildfire smoke drifting into our region from Canada and Minnesota.

Chester County’s Emergency Communications Center has received calls reporting the conditions. This is a widespread, regional weather event; help keep emergency lines clear and only call 9-1-1 in emergencies.

With both the heat and haze present, take these simple steps to stay safe.
- Stay indoors and in Air Conditioning.
- Drink water to stay hydrated.
- Limit time outdoors.
- Never leave people or pets in cars.
