Happy Invasive Species Awareness Week!

The District has been busy celebrating by educating students at Davis Elementary in Malone about invasive species. Students were able to see specimens of Emerald Ash Borer, Asian Longhorned Beetle, and Spotted Lanternfly while learning how these invasive insects impact our environment and what we can do to help prevent their spread.

Also, this week, District staff joined St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District at Coles Creek State Park in Waddington to treat ash trees and help protect them from Emerald Ash Borer infestations.

Remember to help stop the spread of invasive species by not transporting firewood, cleaning and checking your hiking equipment, and cleaning, draining, and drying your boats after use. Together, we can help keep Franklin County a beautiful place to live and explore!
