🌤️🌊 UNEXPECTED MOMENTS - Jessie Channey's "The Space Between" will be on display at the Malibu City Gallery through Friday, October 23.

With a refined eye for atmosphere, light, and emotional residue, her work explores the quiet poetry of place — abandoned spaces, traces of lives once lived, and the unseen narratives that linger just beneath the surface.

Drawn to the beauty of overlooked details and the intimacy of unexpected moments, Jessie approaches photography as both witness and artist. Her images search for tenderness, mystery, and human presence in the everyday, revealing the subtle magic that often goes unnoticed.

🎨🌱LEGACY PARK PROGRAMS - Explore the natural beauty of Legacy Park and support our local artists.

Walk down the Poetry Stone Path and enjoy the works of our past Malibu Poet Laureates, and visit our display case to see our newest Verse About Town entry submitted by local artists.

Join us this Sunday, September 13, for the next Art Walk event with the Malibu Arts Association and the final performance to jump into with the Young Actors Project.

Later in the fall, we have our monthly Nature Walk and Storytime programs for children ages 5 and under to learn about local waterfowl, observe wildlife, and discover the importance of native gardens in supporting the ecosystem.

Take home a native plant to help transform your garden or home into a reflection of our local Santa Monica Mountains on Sunday, November 8, at 9:30 AM.

In partnership with the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Forestry Division, Malibu Arts Commission, Malibu Arts Association, Malibu Poet Laureate, Malibu Library, and the Young Actors Project.

🐙🌊 GUARDIAN OF THE OCEAN - The City is transforming four storm drain catch basins into public art installations designed by Art by Swain.

This ocean-centered series, titled “One Ocean, One Connection,” will be bold, colorful, and easy to read at a distance, encouraging reflection on Malibu’s deep connection to the coast, sparking curiosity and conversation, and inspiring the community to take an active role in protecting our shared environment

The first drain art installation is at Trancas Canyon Park, featuring an octopus that serves as a symbolic “guardian of the ocean,” helping viewers understand how everyday actions on land directly impact marine life.
