BRAD SHERMAN’S SCANDALS - CONGRESSMAN PLAGUED WITH THEM
Political Scandals come in two varieties: Scandals by Commission and Scandals by Omission.
Sherman has found himself embroiled in an ongoing 15-term (30-year) Scandal by Omission.
As pointed out by his Democratic opponents in the recent 2026 Congressional Primary Race, (See previous post: ”Is Rep. Brad Sherman’s Congressional Candidacy in Trouble,”) notorious and consistent inactions in Congress over almost three decades have shielded Sherman from controversy, protected him from error, and even pleased his party somewhat, but it has now substantially contributed to our nation being hurled into rudderless confusion and at odds with each other.
He has never been a leader. He is a "pat on the head party follower."
But times have changed, and Sherman's deliberate, neglectful past, that has burdened our present and consumed our future, has caught up with the new leadership requirements of today.
Why has Sherman's ineffective style of protective governing suddenly become a scandal? When do one's cumulative bad acts metastasize into a public scandal, and one has their P. Diddy moment?
For Sherman, inaction by a congressman when the majority of action is going the right way is tolerable, but inaction when action is going the wrong way is complicit and unforgivable. As an elected lawmaker standing by and watching when their country needs leaders negates their need to serve.
Examples:
1. What attempts did Sherman make to prevent the Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena fires? What has he done since to help quickly rebuild?
2. In May of 2021, pro-Palestinian demonstrators trolled the streets of New York and Los Angeles to terrorize and attack Jews. In this environment, Democrat Squad members Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib falsely accused Israel of being an “apartheid state” and of employing U.S. military aid to target civilians and children. Representative Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) referred to “Israeli air strikes killing civilians in Gaza” as “an act of terrorism.” Because there was little political upside for Democrats and Sherman to call out the Squad, Sherman allowed the action and comments to go unchecked. This was a moment for Sherman to step up and prove he was Pro Israel, but he did not, and he allowed antisemitism to grow.
3. Sherman has been fighting for over 15 years to not regulate Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. He wants to "outlaw" them. While he has done nothing, the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) on January 10, 2024, gave official approval to11 Financial Institutions to create a "spot bitcoin ETF" (Exchange-Traded Fund). This long-awaited and controversial government approval is recognized worldwide as the biggest event in the history of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. It finally adds legitimacy to Bitcoin as an Asset Class, and it has opened a floodgate of new institutional investors. Bitcoin has gone mainstream, and Sherman has been on the wrong side of History for over 15 years.
4. What is the real reason Sherman was simply calling for President Biden to do more "extended live interviews" to evidence his cognitive status when his party was convincing Biden to step down? Was Sherman being honest with us here about his true concerns or was his guilt by omission finally begetting him a conscience? How long had Sherman known the truth but stayed silent? Why didn't he share his knowledge or observations with us? Or was BAD BRAD, doing nothing again like many political hacks and employing CYA tactics?
5. Ever since his speech at the Democratic convention in 1996, Sherman has misled audiences and his constituents to believe that Sherman Oaks, California is named after him and his family. That is a lie. Sherman Oaks, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, was named after General Moses Hazeltine Sherman, who owned all the land now named in his honor. Brad Sherman is not a descendant of General Moses Hazeltine Sherman. If a man can brag and lie about his name what else could he lie about...?

7. And most telling, despite his long tenure in Congress, Sherman has very limited legislative achievements to show for his time in office.
All this and more “nothing” adds up to “plenty of wasted opportunities” to do something constructive.
Sherman has held back progress. He has had no vision. He has been a drag on technological advancements. He has been on the wrong side of History. He has weakened the future of the United States.
Congressman Brad Sherman must now pick up all his scandals by omission and go home.
