🇺🇸💙 Congratulations to Officer Gustavo Kruschewsky on his retirement following 18 years of dedicated public service!

On behalf of Chief Marc Gatcomb and the entire Malden Police Department, we proudly recognize Officer Kruschewsky for an incredible career defined by dedication, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the community and people he served.

Before beginning his career in law enforcement, Gustavo proudly served our country in the United States Army. He went on to serve with the Transit Police Department before joining the Malden Police Department, continuing what would become an 18-year career in public service.

Throughout his time with MPD, Officer Kruschewsky served our community in a variety of roles, including our Patrol Division, School Resource Officer, Dispatch/Communications, and the Maplewood Square walking route. While his contributions to the department were many, his passion for working with Malden’s youth truly stood out.

Gustavo served as an instructor and staff member with the Malden Junior Police Academy and as a coach in the Mac Singleton Basketball League, in addition to his involvement in youth sports, school programs, and numerous community engagement activities. He brought an unmistakable level of energy and enthusiasm to everything he was involved in. His ability to connect with young people, build relationships, and make a positive impact throughout our community will be difficult to match and certainly will be missed.

Officer Kruschewsky leaves behind a legacy of 18 years of public service and countless relationships and memories built along the way.

Chief Gatcomb and all of us at the Malden Police Department thank Gustavo for his dedication and commitment to serving others. We congratulate him on a remarkable career and wish him and his family nothing but happiness and success in this well-earned next chapter.

Mayor Gary Christenson welcomed Malden Police Officers Daniel DiVincenzo and David Kessler to recognize their heroic actions that helped save a young child’s life.

In June, the officers responded to a 911 call involving a child in a dangerous situation on a fourth-floor balcony. Through quick thinking, teamwork, and decisive action, Officers Kessler and DiVincenzo worked together to locate and safely rescue the child.

Mayor Christenson presented each officer with a citation in recognition of their bravery and dedication to protecting our community. We are grateful for their service and commitment to Malden. 💙

🚨 MISSING PERSON | HAVE YOU SEEN MARY MCNALLY? 🚨

The Malden Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 84-year-old Mary McNally, who was discovered missing Friday evening, August 7, from the east side of Malden.

Mary is described as 5’5”, approximately 120 lbs., with strawberry blonde hair and brown eyes. She was last known to be wearing a black-and-white striped shirt with black pants.

We ask members of the community to please remain alert and contact Malden Police immediately if you see Mary or have any information regarding her whereabouts.

🚔 Take a Behind-the-Scenes Look at Our Junior Police Academy!

This incredible video was created by the Mayor’s Youth Summer Employment Program, led by Malden High School teacher Mr. Valente, and highlights the energy, teamwork, and unforgettable experiences from this year’s Malden Police Department Junior Police Academy.

From physical fitness and leadership challenges to hands-on public safety demonstrations, our recruits had an amazing week learning, growing, and building lasting friendships while getting an inside look at law enforcement and community service.

A special thank you to Mr. Valente, the talented students from the Mayor’s Youth Summer Employment Program, and everyone who helped produce this outstanding video. Your hard work and creativity captured the spirit of our Junior Police Academy perfectly.

We also want to thank all of our officers, instructors, community partners, volunteers, and the families who continue to make this program such a success year after year.

What an incredible evening at National Night Out 2026!

On behalf of the Malden Police Department, thank you to everyone who came out tonight to celebrate with us. Seeing so many families, residents, community members, local organizations, and neighbors come together made for a truly special evening.

Events like National Night Out are a reminder that public safety is built on strong relationships. Whether you stopped by to meet an officer, explored the police vehicles and specialty equipment, spoke with one of our many community partners, or simply enjoyed an evening with family and friends, we hope you had as much fun as we did.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the many community organizations, businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and public safety partners who generously donated their time, resources, and support to make tonight such a success. Your commitment to engaging with our community and helping strengthen these connections is greatly appreciated.

We also want to recognize the incredible members of the Malden Police Department who worked behind the scenes and throughout the evening to make this event possible. From planning and setup to grilling hot dogs, serving food and drinks, welcoming families, showcasing our cruisers, motorcycles, K9 Unit, specialty equipment, and spending time talking with our community your teamwork and dedication were on full display. We are proud of every member who helped make tonight a memorable event.
