Severe thunderstorms caused widespread damage in Henderson County Tuesday evening with Precincts 3 and 4 the hardest hit.

Nearly 10,000 county residents were without power at 8:30 p.m., according to officials.

Multiple trees are down in Precincts 1, 3, and 4 with some houses and buildings damaged. There have been reports that a cell tower may have been damaged as well.

"There is debris on the roads throughout the county," said County Judge Wade McKinney. "Please be careful if you are out driving this evening."

Commissioner Mark Richardson's Precinct 4 was one of the hardest hit.

"We have trees scattered all across our precinct," he said. "We will be cleaning them up throughout the night."

Henderson County remains under a National Weather Service Tornado Watch until 11 p.m.

The 175 bridge at 334 is extremely dangerous and is currently being shut down by multiple agencies until TXDOT arrives to make safe. PLEASE STAY HOME AND/OR USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE.

WEATHER UPDATE:

Most Bridges in this area have reported to be iced over including both the north and south bridge on SH 198… please be safe if you ABSOLUTELY have to get out!

We’re not going to see temperatures above freezing until Noonish on Friday.
