“It really struck home because I’m thinking to myself, ‘That could be me.’”
-Misti Tuppeny, Clinical Nurse Specialist

When we support donor families and honor donor heroes, we're reminded that these stories could belong to any of us. We see ourselves and our loved ones in the those we serve, and that perspective guides everything we do.

“One that really hit home with me was a fellow ICU nurse who... became an organ donor. We had about one hundred people line the hallways for her – for an honor that she did for other people.”

Misti Tuppeny, a Clinical Nurse Specialist at OurLegacy, reflects on a donation experience that has always stayed with her.

Every day, our team and partners have the privilege of honoring the incredible impact donor heroes have made on so many.

These experiences remind us that organ donation is more than a medical process—it's a lasting legacy of love and life.

Seth Beyrooti was a talented and passionate young man whose legacy has touched so many. After his passing, Seth's family said "yes" to organ donation, saving six people, including a 9/11 responder who worked at Ground Zero and received Seth's lungs. As we approach 9/11, we honor the incredible connection between lives linked by heroism and the gift of life.

This Friday, we’ll share the remarkable story of how Seth’s gift, a firefighter’s courage, and a 9/11 responder’s service became forever connected.

“Being able to connect with this child’s mother, who was grieving and was given so much hope through seeing my son thrive, is something I will never forget and is what drives me every day.”

For Mary Albers, Vice President of both OurLegacy and the AdventHealth Transplant Institute, this mission is deeply personal. She honors her son's donor hero and donor family every day, both at home and at work.

Stories like this remind us of the life-changing impact of organ donation, and the hope it provides to patients and families every day.

Hello to OurLegacy Volunteers!

We hope you are all doing well. Thank you for your continued support and for the time you give to helping raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. Your involvement and dedication are deeply valued.

We want to make it easier for you to stay informed, register for upcoming events, and find ways to get involved. To streamline communication and the RSVP process, VolunteerHub will now be our primary platform for volunteer opportunities and event registration. Going forward, all volunteer event RSVPs will be managed through VolunteerHub rather than Facebook. As part of this transition, the Volunteers4Life page will also be closing.

You can continue to stay connected with OurLegacy through our main page, Instagram, and website for news and updates, while VolunteerHub will be your primary resource for volunteer-specific information, event registration, and opportunities to participate.

We appreciate all that you do to support the mission of organ and tissue donation and look forward to continuing to connect with you through VolunteerHub and at upcoming OurLegacy events.

Here is the Volunteer Hub link to sign up for our upcoming Volunteer Day on Thursday, September 3rd!
