Our thoughts and prayers are with the Durand Fire Department.

With profound and heartfelt sadness, we have to announce the passing of Firefighter Chris J. Bates. Chris joined the Durand Fire Department in 2007, served as a Lieutenant and Training Officer on the department and was a current Senior Member. Chris was an amazing firefighter and US Marine Veteran. More importantly he was a brilliant husband, father and grandfather to his family. Rest easy brother, we’ll take the watch from here. Godspeed Chris Bates.

On this last day of National EMS Week.
We just want to take another moment to recognize and thank every EMS provider, firefighter, dispatcher, law enforcement officer, nurse, doctor, and first responder who answers the call — day or night, rain or shine.

Behind every siren is a team of dedicated people working together to make a difference in someone’s worst moment. Your compassion, courage, sacrifice, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

To our dedicated team — thank you for your continued commitment to serving our community with compassion and professionalism every day. We also enjoyed getting the opportunity to connect with many of you throughout EMS Week!

Together, we are stronger. Together, we improve outcomes. ❤️🚑

And don’t forget — posts and details for our Ambulance Breakfast coming up in July will be shared soon, so keep an eye out! 🚑💙

Time for our final spotlight! Check out this husband and wife duo.

Cody Hoyt has been a member of our service for 2 years. He also serves with the Plum City Fire Department, where he has been a member for 4 years. In his free time, Cody enjoys camping, riding side-by-sides, and spending time at home with friends and family.

Trisha Hoyt joined our service 8 months ago, making her our newest member (though some might say she followed Cody). In truth, she followed a dream she had to step away from at age 20 and is proud to be back serving her community. In her free time, Trisha enjoys camping, side-by-side rides, spending time with family and friends, and reading.

Trisha has a son, Richard, and together, Trisha and Cody have two children, Boe and Brianna. Even with their busy lives raising three kids (2 under age of 3) they continue to answer the call whenever they are needed.

We want to sincerely thank Cody and Trisha for their dedication to our department and our community. Your commitment and service are greatly appreciated.

Let’s kick off our Friday with another spotlight! Meet this husband and wife duo!

Randy Seipel has been on the service for 31 years. He is also a member of the Lund-Pepin First Responders and has served on the Lund Fire Department for 47 years. Randy’s dad was on the fire department, so Randy followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the department as soon as he was old enough — and even helped out before that. He later became a first responder as well so he could help whenever he could.

When Randy isn’t working, he enjoys hunting, being outdoors, and putzing around with small engines. Randy has a son, Taylor, and together with his wife, Lori, they also have Vanessa (Jacob) and Travis (Maddy). They are proud grandparents to two grandsons, Jaxson and Xavier. As a family, they enjoy spending time together, playing cards, and watching the kids at demo derbies and races.

Lori Seipel has been on the service for 26 years and is also a member of the Lund-Pepin First Responders. Lori has lived here her whole life and says, “I like to help people as much as I can and give back to my community.” In her free time, Lori enjoys spending time with her dog, Lucky, her friends, Sudoku, crafts, pool time, shenanigans, and vacationing with her bestie!

Thank you both for your hard work and dedication to our department as well as our community!
