The National Weather Service has issued a BLIZZARD WARNING, which is in effect from 1:00 PM on Sunday (2/22/2026) to 6:00 PM on Monday (2/23/2026). Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches, with the highest towards the NYC metro. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected, making travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. The strong winds and the weight of snow on tree limbs may bring down power lines, causing sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult or impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Strongest winds are expected Sunday evening through Monday afternoon.
During the Storm:
Residents should STAY OFF THE ROADS! Do not put yourself and our first responders in harm's way.
We want to remind all residents that there is NO ON-STREET PARKING during a snow event. This allows our DPW plows to clear roads effectively. CARS WILL BE TOWED IF ON THE STREET DURING THE STORM.
Calls to the PD should be for EMERGENCIES ONLY.
After the Storm:
Residents must clear their sidewalks within 12 hours after the storm ends. Please do not throw snow and ice into the street.
If there is a fire hydrant on your property, please clear the snow 3 feet around it so the fire department can access it during an emergency.
Clear vents around your home to ensure proper ventilation, and clear the area around your gas meter.
Do not ride ATVs or any off-road vehicles through the snow on public streets.
