Chris Belflower for Minnesota House - District 43A

Chris Belflower for Minnesota House - District 43A Welcome to the campaign page for Chris Belflower. The drive is there to make a difference for our communities. Moving FORWARD with political thinking.

As a retired member of the Mahtomedi Fire Department, I have always had a desire to serve the public. Since the body won't let me fight fires, I've decided to dip my foot in the political waters in support of my constituents. As a successful small business owner, I want to help our community's businesses flourish. Additionally, I want to explore ways to draw in younger families which would help bo

lster our infrastructure. I am an independent when it comes to political affiliation. I look forward to hearing what our resident's concerns are and what I can do to help make Minnesota greater than ever!

Due to a significant life change, I must suspend my candidacy towards MN Office. I received a new job, and will not have time to be able to focus on campaigning and service in office without jeopardizing my employment... thanks for the support and faith.

The other day, St Paul PD, was required to utilize resources and time protecting the students and staff of St Kate's campus while looking for a suspect who had shot a security guard. Any time these brave men and women go to work, they put their lives in the line. Due to the nature of the incident, stress levels were at all time highs, creating higher levels of danger to the public and themselves.

Only to find out that the guard shot himself, then fabricated a story blaming an imaginary black man as the suspect. This is wrong on so many levels. First, the guard was afraid of losing his job so this is why he made the story up. Think you have a job now? Second, blaming a black person for this fabrication is unspeakably evil.

We CANNOT start coming together and decimate the racism in the State, let alone Nation until we stop this type of garbage. This security guard should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and required to fully pay back the costs that our pubic service departments utilized to chase the ghost that this moron made up.

When elected, ensuring that there is true and full accountability for fabricating criminal cases will be a top priority. This is part of supporting our LEOs, & First Responders. Why should they put themselves in greater danger because of an idiotic move by some "Barney Fife"?

A little long, but I hope you find it an interesting read...
Why is Cannabis a bad thing?
During this election, one of the issues with a defining line in the sand has been cannabis legalization. Legislators and people on the right say it’s a bad thing, while others on the left say it’s great. Both sides will indicate that the reports say positive or negative effects have occurred in States where it has been legalized. The problem with reports is that if you pay someone enough, they can and will write anything you want to hear.
A few weeks ago, I had a tour of LeafLine Labs, a facility here in Minnesota that produces cannabis used for medicinal purposes. Prior to this tour, I thought I knew a lot about cannabis. I learned a whole lot more that day. The effects of the CBD (cannabidiol – one of the many chemicals produced from cannabis for medicinal purposes) are incredible. There are so many medical concerns that have been proven to be resolved with the use of medical cannabis. But currently Minnesota is running at less than 25% capacity of what it could be. So many other ailments aren’t even on the list of issues it can be used to help or even cure. And that is just one use of this natural plant. We haven’t even talked about the other industrial uses for it. The hemp produced from the plant can be used for a multitude of items like rope, clothing, even paper! Seemingly this plant is able to be used in its entirety for something.
Yet “reports” indicate that it is a gateway drug. Somehow I feel that these reports are shams (see my above comment) to scare ultra-conservative people into seeing the Devil. And many of those same persons are sipping wine, drinking beer, and smoking cigarettes (not all conservatives drink and smoke, so don’t misunderstand what I'm trying to say please). But there are too many people today dependent on a multitude of medications. Why? Because several of the medications they are using actually counteract each other. So we continue to poison our bodies with manufactured chemicals.
I had one candidate the other day talk about addiction with a family member. And he was adamant it was from marijuana. But in the same breath, mentioned synthetic cannabis. Therein lies the issue. It’s not the natural cannabis, it was the manufactured cannabis. Someone with bad intentions tweaked their product with other addictive chemicals. So we’re no longer talking about apples and apples.
Expansion of medical cannabis has way more benefits than negative issues. So why aren’t we working on expanding it? Can you imagine how much money big pharmaceutical companies would lose? Someone said on a National television show this year, “if you want to find the problem, follow the money.” It cannot be said any truer. While the common man is poisoning his body with chemicals, the makers of these chemicals continue to rake in more and more money.
Legalizing cannabis even for recreational consumption would turn out to be a bigger benefit for Minnesota and the U.S. Decriminalizing it virtually eliminates many of the social problems we se today. It also allows our law enforcement agencies to focus on other more pressing issues. Our DEA can focus on the cocaine and heroin issues coming into the Country. We can open our prisons up to the rapists and murderers instead of letting them off with probation. We discuss prison overpopulation. That can be eliminated with decriminalization. And once again, we come “to follow the money”. Private prison systems are run like businesses. How do businesses make money? With customers. So they need to get as many “customers” into their business as possible to make money for their shareholders. Not all prisons are privately owned. But because we cant have two versions of prison requirements, one for State run and another for private run prisons, they keep rules the same.
But we keep alcohol and cigarettes legal. Both of which have been proven to kill hundreds of thousands of people annually. You cannot find those same reports with cannabis. Someone said that smokers of cannabis smell bad. Last time I checked, so do alcohol drinkers and smokers. Heck when I was bartending, I stunk so bad every night, from the second-hand smoke. We can keep similar rules for cannabis when its legal (i.e. outside smoking areas, not around kids, 21 and older, smoke bars, etc)
So tell me again why cannabis is a bad thing?

I'm going to put this in a video probably this week, but I've got a request for all of MN Bernie Sanders Supporters... not just my friends....we all know he got the shaft by the most crooked candidates in American history.

We ALL want change. I will admit I'm not as progressive as Bernie (as we were told by his camp - but we almost had his endorsement for third party reasons).

But I PROMISE you, along with every other Minnesotan that I will work hard to benefit Minnesota. We have an incredible platform ready to rock on day one.

But I need YOUR help. I NEED YOUR vote on November 8! We need to tell BOTH the Republicans AND Democrat parties that we have a voice, and we have a choice! Minnesota will no longer be forced to think in a two-party format.

My campaign has support from both sides already! I have GOP support as well as a resolution of support for our campaign from the Legalize Marijuana Now Party of MN. I know we can do this, together!

So please pass this around. Please don't just like. SHARE THIS POST. One time, that's all I ask. We need to get this post (and video) out to the East Metro. You never know who you know that lives in this area. This is the time that the third parties make a statement! Time to stop the establishment politics, and really make a difference.

Thanks! And keep emailing and calling with questions! I love chatting with everyone on their concerns and issues.

If anyone in the East Metro area knows Mr. James Carson, I am excited, and proud to accept his personal endorsement for the Belflower campaign!! From some email correspondence "you have my permission to use my name as an endorsee." Thank you sir!

In an effort to ensure that we continue to work for Minnesota, we are proud to accept a resolution of support from the Legalize Marijuana Now party! Additionally, if you live in District 60, they have a great Senate candidate as well in Mark Super! Also Shawn White is running for 6th District and my white bear friends, Andrew Henderson is running for City Council. Go check them out and let's start getting third parties involved in Minnesota government!! -edited to read resolution instead of endorsement. Just needed to clarify terminology.
