What’s better than learning bike safety? 🚲
Practicing it first hand! ✅

✨Mahtomedi Community Education recently kicked off summer with our very first Bike Rodeo! This free event, hosted in partnership with the Mahtomedi Safe Routes to School Committee, focused on teaching students preK through age 11 essential bike safety skills in a fun, hands-on environment.

Thanks to incredible community collaboration, our youngest learners zipped through a safety course complete with:
🚴Helmet checks courtesy of Regions Hospital
🔧 Bike tune-ups from the team at Gateway Cycle
🏁 Five skill stations, including a speed bump ramp, crosswalk station, and the clear fan-favorite “car wash!”

In addition, we loved seeing parents and members of the Mahtomedi Mountain Bike Team working side-by-side to coach and cheer on our students as they navigated the course. ⭐

Thank you to our wonderful community partners who helped us bring this event to life: Regions Hospital, Gateway Cycle, Washington County Sheriff's Office,Lake Links Trail Association, and Mahtomedi Mountain Bike Team!

Here’s to safe riding all summer long, Mahtomedi! ☀️

Meet Elouise Suoja, Mahtomedi High School alumna and professional presenter at the 2026 Mahtomedi High School Career, Internship, & Volunteer Fair. 💛💙

Here’s what Ms. Suoja shared when we asked, “Why is it important to you to share your time at events like these in Mahtomedi?”

🗨️ ”Giving back to the community is really big for me. I wouldn't be where I am without that. Kids are really excited to see the potential of what they could be when they get out of high school, or even in high school, and it's fun sharing my story.”

Meet Nick Merges, fourth-grade teacher at O.H. Anderson Elementary and professional presenter at the 2026 Mahtomedi High School Career, Internship, & Volunteer Fair. 💛💙

Here’s what Merges shared when we asked, “Why is it important to you to share your time at events like these in Mahtomedi?”

💬 “Growing up, I loved sports. And one misconception I had was that you are very limited if you wanted to do that as a career. I really like to help kids be aware that if they are interested in sports, and they have a business mindset or are interested in other things, you can merge those together.”

🧑‍🍳 Confidence, Cooking, and Community 💛💙

Mahtomedi Middle School’s Zephyr Cooking Club recently celebrated the end of another exciting year with its final showcase! After months of building confidence in the kitchen, trying new recipes, and growing their cooking and baking skills, students had the opportunity to share their accomplishments with family and friends.

⭐The evening included student reflections about their experience in the club, including skills they learned throughout the year, how their high school mentors helped them along the way, and the fun field trips they went on.

🎖️A recognition ceremony followed where instructor Alice Seuffert and Community Education Secondary Enrichment Coordinator Sammy Wallace celebrated their hard work, growth, and positive attitudes throughout the year.

🍪 Then, came one of the best parts: students served samples of recipes they had prepared earlier that day for loved ones to enjoy, including an Orange Ombre Drink, Mini Monkey Bread with Maple Frosting, and Creamy Mac & Cheese.

💛💙We love seeing students grow not only their cooking skills, but also teamwork, confidence, and creativity throughout the year!
