Affordability matters. From our property taxes to the cost of everyday essentials, families across Putnam Valley and Putnam County are feeling the pressure.

I was proud to walk our streets alongside Senator Rob Rolison, Assemblyman Matt Slater, and former State Senator Terrence Murphy to talk about the issues that matter most to our residents.

A MESSAGE TO ALL CANDIDATES AND RESIDENTS

This morning, I was contacted by Maia Gilleo, and I have also heard from people on both sides of the aisle about inappropriate behavior involving political signs being removed from private property or defaced.

Let me be clear, disagreeing with someone politically does not give anyone the right to harass, intimidate, or vandalize their property.

Anyone who puts their name on a ballot and runs for public office is putting themselves out there for public scrutiny. That takes courage, time, and a willingness to serve their community. Regardless of party affiliation or political differences, every candidate deserves to be treated with basic decency and respect.

We can disagree on policies, debate the issues, and compete in an election without resorting to childish behavior or personal attacks.

Please stop with the ridiculous behavior. Let's act like adults, respect one another, and remember that we are all members of the same community.

Our politics may be different, but our community is one. Let's start acting like it.
