This morning at approximately 2:15am, the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported commercial structure fire at the Putnam County Golf Course on Hill Street.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed a fully involved maintenance building located behind the main clubhouse. The incident was complicated by two 1,000-pound propane tanks that became compromised during the fire.

Firefighters established a water supply from a hydrant on Bullet Hole Road and initiated an aggressive exterior attack. Due to the propane involvement and additional hazards, the Putnam County Hazardous Materials Team was requested to the scene.

NYSEG responded to secure power and address downed electrical hazards, working closely with crews to ensure safe operations.

Mutual aid was provided by Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, Carmel Fire Dept. NY, Kent Fire Department Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department FASTeam. Carmel Police Department, NY and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office assisted on scene safety.

Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association, Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD and Croton Falls Fire Department provided standby coverage for the area during the incident.

Crews operated for several hours to bring the fire under control and extinguish hotspots. An excavator was utilized to assist with overhaul operations.

There were no reported injuries. The structure sustained significant damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Mahopac Falls Fire Department thanks all assisting agencies for their support and coordinated response.

Active Incident โ€“ Avoid the Area

The Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department is currently on scene of a structure fire in the area of Hill Street and Kaitlin Drive.

Emergency crews are actively working to contain a commercial structure fire.

Please avoid the area to allow fire apparatus and emergency personnel to operate safely and efficiently. Expect road closures and delays in the surrounding area.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Last Saturday, March 14th, the Mahopac Falls Dive Team was on standby at the Mahopac VFW for the rescheduled Operation Ice Splash event.

Our team was there to ensure the safety of all participants entering the water and to respond immediately in the event of an emergency. With cold water conditions, having trained divers on scene is a critical safety measure for events like this.

Weโ€™re proud to support community events that bring people together for a great cause, especially when they benefit our local veterans.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and came out to support.

All occupants were able to safely evacuate prior to our arrival. Tragically, a family pet was lost.

The structure sustained significant damage, including a partial collapse. The Town of Carmel Building Department and NYSEG responded to assist.

As of 12:10 PM, all units are back in service and the roadway has been reopened.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners and to the community for your patience.
