LAWN CLIPPING & BRANCH PICKUP GUIDELINES

Help Keep Our Community Clean and Safe!
The City of Mahnomen provides pickup of lawn clippings and small branches when properly prepared for collection.
Branch Pickup Requirements
• Place branches neatly at the curb or alleyway.
• Branch piles should be approximately 3 feet x 3 feet in size.
• Branches should be bundled or stacked neatly, similar to the example shown below.
Grass Clippings
• Grass clippings must be bagged for pickup.
• Place bags at the curb or alleyway for collection.

IMPORTANT REMINDER
DO NOT blow, rake, or mow grass clippings into the street.
Grass clippings in roadways:
• Create safety hazards for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
• Contribute to storm drain blockages.
• Increase street maintenance costs.
Large Cleanup Jobs
If you have a larger amount of branches or yard debris that exceeds the pickup guidelines:
Contact City Hall at 218-935-2573
Please note:
• Large jobs requiring the use of the City's skid steer will be subject to a service charge.
• City staff will discuss any applicable fees before work is completed.

Reminder - Don't flush wipes.
Cleaning wipes, personal wipes, and baby wipes should not be flushed down the toilet! Even the ones labeled as "flushable."

These wipes do not break down as quickly as toilet paper, and can lead to clogged pipes and sewer back ups.

Tall Grass & Weeds

As we enter the summer season, please remember to keep lawns maintained and free of excessive weeds.

Per City Ordinance 92.38, all property owners are responsible for the removal, cutting, or disposal of weeds, grass, rank vegetation, and other uncontrolled plant growth on their property. Grass and weeds may not exceed 12 inches in height.
