Update on Williams Elementary.

Update on Willie E. Williams Elementary:

A teacher at Williams Elementary, located in an interior room, was not aware that a thunderstorm was moving into the area. Around 12:45, the teacher heard a clap of thunder, which they mistook for a gunshot. The teacher called 911 directly, prompting Precinct 5 Constable’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department to respond immediately. This response prompted several of our schools to go into lockdown. There were no gunshots, and at no time was any student or employee threatened. All MISD schools are safe and secure. We appreciate the quick response of our local law enforcement agencies and their continued commitment to keeping our students and staff safe.

🚨 Uber driver DWI arrest 🚨
Mag PD was requested to assist with a welfare check at 249 and 149. Officers located an Uber driver passed out at a red light. After finally getting the driver to wake up, the vehicle was found to be in drive still and oddly, the heater on full blast. The driver apparently wasn’t able to sweat it all out so after an intoxication investigation, he was arrested for DWI.
Just a reminder to look for signs of intoxication in your driver, when using a ride share. We absolutely encourage ride shares as a designated driver option but don’t automatically assume that they aren’t intoxicated as well.

A traffic stop was conducted on S. Magnolia and after an intoxication investigation, the driver was arrested for DWI.

Partial Closure of Smith St.
From 8/18 - 9/1, storm drainage will be installed on Smith St, at FM 1488. A small portion of Smith, at this intersection, will be closed until completion. The attached traffic map will show the detour route.

08/15/2026

MPD responded to a burglary in progress at a county cell tower site, off of 1488. Upon arrival, 3 males fled on foot. K9 Hart was able to locate 1 of the males under a residence and the other 2 males were found hiding in a vehicle nearby. MCSO eventually arrested the 3 suspects (unknown charges).
