🇺🇸 LABOR DAY SAFETY MESSAGE FROM SHERIFF BRYANT “WALLY” JONES

As we prepare to celebrate Labor Day Weekend, I want to wish all of the citizens of Pike County a safe, enjoyable, and blessed holiday.

Labor Day is a time to enjoy family, friends, fellowship, travel, outdoor activities, and the final days of summer. But while you celebrate, please remember that safety must come first.

If you are traveling, slow down, buckle your seat belt, stay alert, and never drive impaired. If you plan to consume alcohol or use any substance that may impair you, make arrangements for a sober driver and never get behind the wheel. Impaired driving is preventable, and one bad decision can change a life forever.

For those enjoying our lakes, rivers, pools, and other outdoor activities, please use good judgment, watch your children closely, wear the appropriate safety equipment, and never operate a boat or recreational vehicle while impaired.

I also encourage everyone to look out for one another. If you see something that could put someone in danger, say something and make the responsible choice. If you encounter an impaired driver or an emergency, call 911.

The men and women of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office will be working throughout the holiday weekend to help keep our citizens and visitors safe.

From my family to yours, have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. Enjoy yourselves, make memories, and most importantly—make it home safely.

VEHICLE PURSUIT ENDS IN ARREST IN PIKE COUNTY

On August 29, 2026, deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office assisted the McComb Police Department in a vehicle pursuit involving a suspect who was wanted out of Livingston Parish, Louisiana, for aggravated domestic violence.

The pursuit continued into the City of Osyka, where a Pike County Sheriff’s deputy successfully deployed spike strips in an effort to bring the pursuit to a safe conclusion.

The pursuit ultimately came to an end on Old Mill Road, where the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Pike County Sheriff’s deputies, along with officers from other assisting agencies, quickly apprehended the suspect and took him into custody without further incident.

I would like to personally thank the McComb Police Department and all of the law enforcement agencies and officers who assisted in bringing this pursuit to an end and helping get a wanted violent offender off our streets.

This is another example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together across jurisdictional lines. We will continue working alongside our local, state, and neighboring law enforcement partners to keep Pike County and our surrounding communities safe.

FRIENDS OF THE PIKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HOLDS ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING FOR NEWLY FORMED FOUNDATION

The Friends of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office recently held its Organizational Meeting for the newly formed foundation, bringing together community leaders , along with representatives from local government, public safety, education, business, faith, and the legal community who are committed to making a positive difference throughout Pike County.

The meeting served as an important first step in establishing the foundation’s structure, vision, goals, and commitment to supporting the mission of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the communities it serves.

The Friends of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Foundation recognizes that meaningful progress happens when people come together with a shared purpose. The foundation is being built on the principles of teamwork, service, unity, accountability, and community partnership.

This is more than the formation of an organization, it is the beginning of a TEAM committed to serving, supporting, and strengthening Pike County.

Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can build a stronger community. Together, Pike County grows stronger!

As promised, Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones continues to ensure that trash is removed along state highways and county roads throughout Pike County.

We care about our county, and this effort reflects our commitment to keeping Pike County clean, safe, and beautiful.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Commissioner Charles Busby for the donation of the cleanup truck. We truly value and appreciate all of our donors for their continued support.

A special thank you to Mr. Lamar Coulter and the inmates for leading this cleanup effort.
