The Magnolia River Water Watch team has conducted bacteria testing of the Magnolia River for this weekend!

The Magnolia River Water Watch Team recently completed bacteria monitoring at Bemis Bay and Cold Hole. Testing results showed that bacteria levels were within acceptable recreational water quality standards at most sampling sites, indicating favorable conditions for river users at the time of testing.
Thank you to our dedicated volunteers who continue to protect and preserve this treasured natural resource through weekly monitoring this summer.

The Magnolia River Water Watch team has completed water quality testing following the recent sewer spill near the Magnolia River Bridge.

Samples were tested for E. coli using triplicate sampling methods, following bacteriological sampling techniques established by Alabama Water Watch and aligned with water quality standards from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.

Results did show elevated bacteria levels Saturday morning, particularly after the significant rainfall from Friday night into Saturday morning. This increase is consistent with what is typically observed after heavy rain, as stormwater runoff can carry additional contaminants into local waterways.

The Magnolia River Water Watch team will continue regular testing of the Magnolia River, with added emphasis on the affected area. As always, we encourage residents to use caution when recreating on the river following major rainfall events.

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for their continued efforts to protect and preserve the Magnolia River.
