🚨TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO MULTIPLE CHARGES IN MUHLENBERG COUNTY🚨

On September 1, 2026, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Trooper Leevi McMillin observed a black Dodge Charger traveling 96 MPH in a posted 55 MPH zone on US 431 near Central City.

Trooper McMillin attempted to stop the vehicle, which turned onto Whitmer Street and then N. 1st Street before stopping in a driveway. The operator, identified as 18-year-old Briar Bolton of Island, KY, was taken into custody without incident.

Bolton was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center and faces multiple charges, including speeding 26 MPH or more over the limit, reckless driving, fleeing or evading, wanton endangerment of a police officer, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and drug-related charges.

September is here, and our Golf Scramble is right around the corner!

We’re excited to host our annual Kentucky State Police Post 2 Golf Scramble on September 25th, benefiting our Shop with a Trooper Program!

Each year, this program gives us the opportunity to provide meals and groceries to families in our communities and take children Christmas shopping with a trooper. Fundraisers like this, along with the incredible support and generosity of our communities, make it all possible.

Thank you, Mrs. Huffman, for allowing me the opportunity to join your students for Life Skills class at Saint John Methodist Church in Christian County today! It was a great opportunity to connect with the students and discuss permits, driver’s licenses, traffic offenses, safe driving, and a variety of other topics.

I truly enjoyed the conversation and appreciate the opportunity to spend time with these students and help prepare them for the road ahead!

🚧Highway Safety Starts With You!🚧

Slow down, stay alert, and pay attention when traveling through work zones or along our roadways. Follow posted signs and roadside instructions, and use extra caution around road crews, and changing traffic patterns.

Law enforcement will be patrolling in the area.

A few extra seconds of caution could save a life. Slow down. Pay attention. Arrive safely.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office hosted a meeting involving several agencies to discuss and work through plans to reduce traffic accidents on Interstate 24.

Christian County Emergency Management, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Kentucky State Police, Hopkinsville Fire and EMS, Kentucky Emergency Management, and the Christian County Sheriff's Office attended the meeting.

As new techniques are used to reduce traffic accidents on Interstate 24, nothing is more important than drivers reducing speed and paying attention to the road.

Although the Christian County Sheriff's Office does not coordinate construction zones, we are committed to working with all the agencies to ensure the safety of Interstate 24.

Let's make safety a top priority by knowing the rules of the road. Drivers need to know how a new Kentucky law (KRS 189.370) impacts what they should do if they see a bus with red flashing lights and an extended stop arm:

• When this occurs on a road with more than two lanes that doesn't have a raised or unpaved median, traffic in all directions and lanes must stop.

• The only exception to this law is on a four-lane or more road that includes a raised or unpaved median. In this instance, traffic opposite to the extended stop arm may proceed.

The Kentucky State Police's top priority is keeping everyone safe at school, work, home and on the road.
