What does it mean to “prepare a site” for a new company?
It’s about much more than having an empty piece of land.
Before a business can build a new facility, the site often needs access to utilities like water, sewer, electricity, and broadband. It also needs roads, infrastructure, and the capacity to support the company’s operations. Those improvements take planning, partnerships, and funding long before a project is announced.
That’s why MHCEDC has been so focused on acquiring strategic industrial property while also pursuing grants and legislative appropriations to help prepare those sites for future investment. We’ve also worked with our utility partners to extend critical infrastructure so our community is ready when opportunities arise.
Companies today are looking beyond available land. They’re evaluating whether a community has the infrastructure, workforce, utilities, and long-term vision needed to support their investment.
