When we say we plan for all hazards, we really do mean just that! On top of Hurricane season, the Screwworm issues, and normal public safety, we're staying on alert for issues related to the FIFA World Cup! Thanks to all the DPS Troopers, along with local law enforcement and responders who are ready to provide their services during this increased time of readiness!

⚽ FIFA World Cup 2026 ⚽

As a reminder, the FIFA World Cup will bring increased travel and traffic throughout Texas, particularly in the Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth areas. If you plan to travel during these dates, allow extra time, monitor traffic conditions, and make transportation arrangements in advance.

As always, remain aware of your surroundings, stay informed through trusted sources, and have a plan in place for your destination and return travel.

Today is the beginning of Hurricane Season! Have you reviewed your all-hazards emergency plan and updated contact numbers, medicines, insurance records, and such? Today is a great day to tackle this challenge! Be Safe Out There!

Here's the list of names for the 2026 hurricane season. There are six lists used in a six-year rotation (i.e., 2026 names will be used again in 2032); however, if a storm is so deadly or costly that the future use of its name would be inappropriate, then the name is retired and replaced.
