Meet Sergeant Gnemi of the Madisonville Police Department.

Sergeant Gnemi has been serving with the Madisonville Police Department collectively for over 3 years and has over 10 years of experience in law enforcement.

He attended University of Houston Criminal Justice Academy where he earned his Peace Officers License. He is also a Field Training Officer, and a Mental Health Officer. With advanced Tactical training, he also serves as a SWAT/SRT team member.

Throughout his career, he has remained committed to serving others, leading by example, and building positive relationships within the communities he serves.

As a Sergeant, he understands that law enforcement is about more than responding to calls and enforcing the law. His passion is in the support he extends to his fellow officers by sharing the knowledge he has gained throughout his career and guiding them as he serves right alongside them every day.

A message from our very own Patrol Lieutenant Keith Bitz,

“Hello Madisonville;

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Keith Bitz, I have a beautiful wife of 29 years, along with that I have two older stepsons and two daughters, but with that came along 11 grandchildren. I am retired from the Tomball Police Department where I had a wonderful career, this was a city 28 miles North of Houston in North Harris County. I then relocated to my retirement home in Central Texas. As you know, Law Enforcement Officers never retire. In 2023 I joined the Madisonville Police Department. I am a mentor to the younger generations, and I also believe in public relationships. Madisonville is a wonderful city, and I enjoy the citizens’ interactions. My job at MPD is patrol Lieutenant, I am responsible for patrol supervisors and Patrol Officers in everyday operations. My goal is to prepare each supervisor and officer to become leaders and mentors and guide them and to challenge them to be at their best and to represent this profession in the community we serve.

A message from our very own Sergeant Dustin Brisher,

“I began my Career in Law Enforcement with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee as a full time Peace Officer on February 13, 2017 where I acquired Peace Officers and Standards Training (POST) certification.

While with Van Buren County Sheriffs Office, I received the prestigious award of Deputy of the Year in December of 2018 by The Tennessee Highway Safety Office for the Cookeville Region that consisted of 14 different counties. In February of 2019 I was promoted to K9 Handler and Deputy Sergeant. While with Van Buren, I was very proactive effecting over 200 arrests outside of Calls for Service doing everything I could to protect the community.

I received a job offer that I accepted by the 12th and 31st Judicial District Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force with the Job title Agent/K9 Handler. I resigned from Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office in good standing and began with the 12th&31st JDDTF in September of 2019. The area the Task Force was responsible for consisted of 9 counties. 12th - Marion, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Grundy, Rhea, and Franklin counties. 31st - Warren and Van Buren Counties. While employed with the JDDTF I opened and closed over 300 cases that resulted in the convictions of individuals proven to distribute Controlled Substances within the area of my assignment in both State and Federal Courts. These cases removed 100s of lbs of Controlled Substances from the community. The cases ranged from street level trafficking to national level trafficking.

In June of 2022, my family and I decided that we missed Texas, were tired of the snow, and moved back. I started working for The Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Lieutenant of Corrections. I maintained that position until October of 2024 where I received a job offer as a Patrolman for Madisonville Police Department. I attended and graduated TEEX BPOC in June of 2025. I continued with Madisonville PD where I was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in January of 2026.”

Captain Brittney Mahler has been in some form of law enforcement between working in corrections to policing for almost 15 years. She has been working for Madisonville Police Department for over 9 years now. During her time here she has held the positions of patrol officer, traffic enforcement/narcotics interdiction unit, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and now her current role is Captain.

Captain Mahler specializes and is certified in many things such as narcotics interdiction, Special Response Team Leader, certified in Basic and Advanced SWAT, certified in hostage rescue, certified Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Level 1 instructor (Active shooter course), certified fingerprint identification expert, and a certified basic instructor to just name a few.

Madisonville Police Department is grateful for Captain Mahler’s experience and for having her part of our leadership team and look forward to having her on board for many years to come.

Lieutenant Marcus Pitre is our newest Criminal Investigation Division Commander with the Madisonville Police Department. Lt. Pitre started his career in 1999 with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. After serving one year as a deputy jailer, Lt Pitre transferred to the City of Galveston Police Department.
During his tenure with the City of Galveston Police Department, Lt Pitre was diversified as a patrol officer, a traffic motor officer, mounted patrol officer, and a search/recovery diver in the marine unit. Lt Pitre eventually took the opportunity with the City of Hitchcock Police Department as a lead investigator over major crimes unit. Lt Pitre has received numerous Chiefs Commendations and one officer of the year award.
Lt Pitre is invested in his personal and professional development over the years by obtaining a Bachelor's of Business Information Systems Degree as well as his Masters in Business Administration with an IT Project Management focus. Lt Pitre is a well seasoned computer networking engineer.
Additionally, Lt Pitre has taken thousands of continuing education courses in leadership and specialized criminal investigations and taught Technology courses to first and second year students.
Lt Pitre has been with Madisonville Police Department for 7 years as a reserve officer and 3 years full-time total of 10 years.
Now we welcome him and his promotion to our Administrative Staff as CID Lieutenant.

Bring the kiddos to the Wellness and Badges Event sponsored by Madison Co Community Coalition at the Madisonville Police Department 308 West Cottonwood St. It's happening from 10am-1pm today Friday July 17th. Come enjoy sandwiches and arts & crafts. Police officers will present health and safety issues to the children. Animal Control officers will also be present."Family Fun Days"
