NJDOT and its contractor are tentatively scheduled to begin overnight paving along Route 124 in Madison next week, from Division Street to Alexander Avenue.

During the work, parking will be restricted, and detours will be in place. Motorists should anticipate changing traffic patterns and delays.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed. On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 lives were taken in acts of unimaginable terror. Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember those who never returned home, honor the lives they lived, and stand with the families, friends, colleagues, and communities who continue to carry their memories.

Here in Madison, we remember six members of our community who were lost that day: James L. Crawford, Timothy R. Hughes, Patrick McGuire, Donald Peterson, Jean Peterson, and Peter West. Though 25 years have passed, their names, their lives, and the impact they made on those around them remain an enduring part of Madison’s story.

We also honor the first responders who ran toward danger, those who worked tirelessly at Ground Zero in the days and months that followed, and the men and women who answered the call to serve and protect our nation in the years after September 11.

A quarter-century has passed, but time does not diminish the significance of that day—or our responsibility to remember.

Today, Madison joins communities across our nation in honoring those we lost, those who served, and all whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We will Never Forget.

Tomorrow morning, the Madison community will come together to remember and honor those we lost 25 years ago.

Please join us from 9:00–10:00 a.m. at the 9/11 Memorial in Lower James Park for a solemn remembrance ceremony as we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
