We enjoyed spending time in Madison recently! 👋

Mandy Gear, Executive Director, and Andrea Westerhaus, Deputy Director, had the opportunity to meet with the Madison City Council to talk about NENEDD, the resources available through the City’s membership, and how we can support Madison’s community and economic development goals.

From grants and funding to planning, housing, business development, and connecting communities with the right partners and resources, NENEDD is here to help.

Our goal is to be a resource for Madison from the very beginning—whether there’s a project in the works, a funding opportunity to explore, or simply an idea that needs a little direction. Sometimes the best first step is just a conversation!

We appreciate the City of Madison’s continued membership and the opportunity to strengthen our partnership. We look forward to working together on projects and opportunities that help Madison continue to grow and thrive! 🤝

Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the pool this summer! We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing everyone next season!

TYSON CLARIFICATION: The City of Madison is issuing a clarification regarding recent news reports concerning third-party workforce filings at the local Tyson Foods Fresh Meats processing facility.
Recent media coverage regarding a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) act filing involves a third-party sanitation contractor, Fortrex, ending its current contract at the facility. This vendor change does not reflect facility cutbacks, job eliminations, or downscaling by Tyson Foods in Madison.
City officials have been in communication with plant management and can confirm the following facts for the Madison community:
• Continued Plant Operations: The Tyson Fresh Meats facility continues to operate under standard production schedules without disruption.
• Vendor Contract Transition: The reported changes are strictly the result of a routine transition between third-party service providers. Tyson is onboarding a new primary contractor to manage plant sanitation operations.
• Workforce Retention Opportunities: The incoming contractor is actively working to retain qualified personnel, and eligible workers affected by the vendor shift are encouraged to apply with the new contractor to maintain continuous employment at the facility.
"When regulatory filings like WARN notices hit the news, they can easily cause undue concern for our residents and local business community," said Andy Colvin, Economic Development Director for the City of Madison. "We want to assure the public that our primary employer is fully operational, operations are steady, and the underlying job roles at the facility remain intact as service contracts transition."
The City of Madison remains committed to supporting our local workforce and maintaining transparent communication regarding major economic assets in our community.
