Who’s Gonna Fill Jim’s Boots? 👢
For twenty-one years, traveling the county around,
Jim has seen every back road, field, and town.
With a clipboard in hand and a map by his side,
He covered Madison far and wide.
He’s knocked on doors both big and small,
And heard just about every comment of all.
“You’re here to raise my taxes!” folks would cry,
Before Jim could even say, “Hi!”
Some greeted him kindly, some not so sweet,
Some watched from the porch, others stared from the street.
But with patience and kindness, he’d always explain,
And many walked away seeing things a bit different again.
He wasn’t just measuring buildings and land,
He was lending a smile and a helping hand.
Over the years, hearts changed along the way,
Because Jim treated people right every day.
And let’s not forget his trusty sidekick, Candy,
Who always had his back and came in quite handy.
Together they’d travel the roads near and far,
Knowing every pothole and shortcut by car!
Then along came Dave, learning the trade,
Trying to absorb all the knowledge Jim made.
He’s learning the ropes and doing his best,
But filling Jim’s shoes? That’s quite the test!
And Mrs. Marie, our Property Appraiser today,
Worked closely with Jim along the way.
She’s seen firsthand the dedication he’s shown,
And the respect he’s earned throughout the county he’s known.
And standing beside him through all of these years,
Through deadlines and challenges, laughter and cheers,
Was Anita, his wife, working right by his side,
A faithful companion and source of great pride.
She retired last year and led the way,
And now Jim is joining her without delay.
After years of hard work and giving his all,
He’s finally answering retirement’s call.
Now off to the mountains where life moves slow,
With Anita beside him wherever they go.
No property cards, no parcels to track,
And nobody asking when he’ll be back!
But who’s going to stand quite that tall?
Who’s going to answer the next frantic call?
Who’s going to know every road, field, and gate,
And somehow still arrive right on time, never late?
The truth is, Jim, there’ll only be one.
Twenty-one years of hard work you’ve done.
You’ve given your heart, your time, and your care,
And left behind memories everywhere.
So here’s to retirement, relaxation, and fun,
To sleeping in late and getting things done…
Or maybe not done—that’s retirement too!
The schedule belongs entirely to you.
We’ll miss your stories, your wisdom, and grin,
The office won’t quite be the same without Jim.
But you’ve earned this next chapter, every bit and then some—
🎉 Congratulations, Jim! 🎉
Thank you for 21 years of dedicated service to the Madison County Property Appraiser’s Office.
May your coffee stay hot, your truck keep running, your mountain views stay beautiful, and may nobody ever again accuse you of raising their taxes! 🚜😄👢
We’ll miss you, Jim! ❤️
