🚨 School Zone Speed Enforcement Begins April 29th 🚨

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping our students, staff, and families safe. Beginning April 29th, active speed enforcement will begin in the Madison County High School school zone. We will begin issuing summonses to those who continue to violate the speed limits in school zones beginning on April 29th.

During the warning period, we observed an average of over 200 violations per week, with some vehicles traveling through the school zone at speeds in excess of 70 MPH. These numbers are alarming and highlight the need for stronger enforcement measures.

School zones exist to protect children, school employees, and everyone traveling in the area. We ask all drivers to slow down, stay alert, and obey posted speed limits when flashing lights are activated during school days.

Safety is the goal. Please do your part to help us protect our community.

This week, April 12-18, we recognize and celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Our dispatchers are often the first voice people hear during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. They remain calm under pressure, gather critical information, coordinate responses, and provide reassurance when it is needed most.

They are the unseen link between the public and first responders, working behind the scenes 24 hours a day to help keep our community safe. Their professionalism, dedication, and ability to manage emergencies make a difference every single day.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all of our dispatchers for the important work they do and for their continued service to our community.
