The Urban League of Greater Madison is transforming Greater Madison into the "Best [place] in the Midwest" for everyone to work by making Dane coun

ty the best place for African Americans and others to work, grow professionally, assume advanced leadership opportunities, and reinvest in the community. We accomplish this through a combination of programs, classes, mentoring and coaching; in essence, we do everything in our power to give individuals the tools necessary to transform their lives. The Urban League is one of Greater Madison’s largest community-based providers of career development training and job placement assistance for unemployed and underemployed adults. Foundations Work Readiness Academy
This 100-hour training academy develops the core competencies and behaviors needed to obtain and retain employment along a career pathway. Healthcare Administrative Training Academy
Prepares individuals for administrative and clerical careers in the high-demand health care sector. Participants earn Madison College credits, including Medical Terminology, Health Care Customer Service, and Health Care Privacy. We are the only pre-employment program to offer Epic Software training. Customer Service Academy
The Customer Service Academy is an intensive, 5-week program that is a part of the Urban League of Greater Madison's industry specific workforce training program. We recognize that providing exceptional customer service is a driving force behind economic health and growth in Dane County. Because customer service is a critical factor in the sustainability and growth of so many economic industries, the Urban League strives to help local employers build a diverse, world-class workforce while simultaneously providing employment training and opportunities to unemployed and underemployed individuals. Fatherhood Program
This program provides employment assistance, parenting skills development, and help managing child support obligations for fathers at risk of incarceration due to child support arrearages. WorkSmart Access Point
Our new Center for Economic Development & Workforce Training has been designated as a WorkSmart Access Point. Access Points are a new initiative of the Workforce Development Board to increase access to workforce services across the region. As an Access Point, we help job seekers prepare and apply for jobs, apply for work supports, and learn about career training opportunities. We are also the first community-based site tied into a region-wide interactive video conferencing system, allowing us to broadcast workforce training programs.
