šŸŒ»Reminder! Today's the last day to submit an application!šŸŒ»

The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is now accepting applications for two grants available to nonprofits that serve veterans and their families. Grant applications for both the WDVA Nonprofit Grant and the WDVA Entrepreneurship Grant must be submitted by Friday, June 5, 2026.

šŸŒŸThe WDVA Nonprofit Grant is awarded to registered nonprofit organizations that provide financial assistance or other services to Wisconsin veterans and their families. The Nonprofit Grant provides up to $25,000 to each recipient.

šŸŒŸThe WDVA Entrepreneurship Grant is awarded to registered nonprofit organizations that provide entrepreneurship training, technical support, or other assistance to veteran entrepreneurs in our state to improve employment outcomes. The Entrepreneurship Grant provides up to $100,000 to each recipient.

WDVA's Veteran Outreach and Recovery Program (VORP) team joined several regional partners in conducting the ā€œJune Stronger Togetherā€ Menā€™s Mental Health Conference in Kohler, WI. VORP Region 8 Outreach Coordinator Mark Provencher Jr. (pictured second from left) discussed VORP's mission to support at-risk veterans and its additional wraparound services.

He shared his personal experiences helping veterans and addressed questions from the audience. The conference was held in collaboration with the Kohler Company, Mental Health America, Milwaukee's VetCenter, and VORP.

This past Memorial Day, WDVA's Tribal Veteran Liaison, Melissa Doud, was invited to participate in the annual Memorial Day flag-raising ceremony in Black River Falls, WI. Melissa had the honor of raising the flag of Dr. Walter Funmaker, a US Marine and Korean War veteran. This particular Memorial Day event honors and remembers the service and sacrifice of Ho-Chunk Nation veterans.

One of the best ways to show you're a veteran upon request is on your Wisconsin Driver's License. In Wisconsin, veterans can request that their veteran status be included on their driver's license when renewing or applying for a new license with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

To get the veteran identifier on your WI driver's license or ID card:

ā­Verify your eligibility with the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs by contacting the Veterans Benefits Resource Center at: 1-800-WIS-VETS (800-947-8387) or at MyWisVetsā€‹.com
OR --> Contact your local County or Tribal Veterans Service Officer to obtain certification of your veteran status for the identifier. Find your CVSO or TVSO here: https://dva.wi.gov/resources/find-my-cvso-tvso/

ā­Once you've established eligibility, then apply at the Wisconsin DMV. If renewing or getting your first driver's license or ID card, you'll need to visit your local DMV location. If it's not time to renew, you can get a duplicate product online.

Over the last three and a half years, WDVA Secretary James Bond has traveled throughout Wisconsin to make annual visits to all 72 Counties and 11 Tribal Veteran Service Offices. Recently, he completed his first round of visits for 2026.
