❗Certified PARENT Peer Specialist❗

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS), has announced an important change to the recertification schedule for Certified Parent Peer Specialists (CPPS).

Effective April 8, 2026, DCTS has changed the recertification date for all CPPS certifications to September 30.

If your current CPPS certificate lists January 30, 2027 as the expiration date, your certification has automatically been extended and will now remain valid through September 30, 2027. Going forward, all CPPS certifications will follow a recertification cycle ending on September 30th every two years.

To maintain certification beyond your expiration date, CPPS professionals must continue to complete and submit the required Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) in accordance with current recertification requirements.

This update applies ONLY to Certified Parent Peer Specialists (CPPS).

🔷Certified Peer Specialist🔷

If you are a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), this change does NOT affect your certification. Your recertification deadline remains the expiration date listed on your current certificate.

If you are unsure of your certification renewal deadline, please review your certificate for the deadline.
