Race to Equity

Race to Equity A project of Kids Forward to reduce racial disparities in Dane County, Wisconsin Race to Equity™ is a project of Kids Forward.

Racial disparities compromise the life chances of far too many children and families of color and thwart our common interest that every child grows up healthy, safe and successful. The primary mission of Race to Equity™ (R2E) is to build a fairer, more just and thriving community by narrowing the gaps in the opportunities and outcomes between families of color and the larger community. Race to Equ

ity will achieve its mission by

(1) encouraging investment in practices, programs and policies that have the potential to reduce racial disparities;

(2) promoting action that improves outcomes on key well-being measures for African Americans in Dane County; and

(3) helping decrease racial disparities between African Americans and whites in Dane County. Kids Forward is a multi-issue child and family advocacy organization, providing research, policy analysis, public education, and advocacy that lead to improved outcomes for children in the areas of health, economic security, safety, and education.

“The big takeaway was, look what’s possible. Look at what happened without new funding, without new legislation, Nelson said. “In the moment, people within the system were finding alternatives (to arrest and incarceration).” Read Madison 365's piece about our work: http://ow.ly/JwLj50IpsFK
