Huegel Elementary School Ray W. Huegel Elementary School is in the Meadowood area of far southwest Madison. Huegel has an enrollment of more than 500 kids in grades K-5.

The Madison Metropolitan School District is hosting a series of Building for the Future input sessions across the community.

📍 In-Person Sessions Include:�
• May 4 – Robert M. La Follette High School�
• May 5 – East High School�
• May 6 – West High School�
• May 7 – Vel Phillips Memorial High School�…and more through May 21!

💻 Virtual sessions are also available during midday hours.

What a fun and busy day we had! We celebrated Ms Kloos for principal appreciation day since we have no school tomorrow. Then we helped our mama duck and her 9 ducklings out of the courtyard and into the world so they could find water. We even had to clap and make some noise to scare the hawk back into the tree. Finally, we ended our day with our April School Wide Celebration by having a dance party on the driveway. (Video of the dance party in the comments.)

🚨 Weather Update – Friday, April 17, 2026 - All afterschool activities cancelled

To ensure the safety of our students and staff due to anticipated storms, all afterschool activities are cancelled today. This includes MSCR programming, building permits, athletic events and practices.

We’re sharing this decision as early as possible to give families time to plan, based on the best information available right now.

⚠️ Weather Update - MMSD and MSCR activities after 6 p.m. cancelled today, Tuesday, April 14, 2026

Due to anticipated storms and their unpredictability, and with the safety of our students and staff firmly in mind, all MMSD programming scheduled for 6 p.m. and later is cancelled. This includes MSCR community programs, external facility rentals, and athletic events and practices. In addition, MSCR middle school afterschool programs are canceled.

We are making this call now to provide families as much notice as possible, with the best information available to us at this time.
