Leopold Park Community Gardens Leopold Park Community Gardens is a beautiful and active community garden located in Aldo Leopold Park in Madison, WI, founded in 2012.

Community Garden located just south of the Beltline between Fish Hatchery Road and Todd Drive.

Hello Leopold Park Community Garden Gardeners!
At long last, we are getting a reprieve from rain (and snow!) and we can host our OPENING DAY for the Leopold Community Garden.
When: TOMORROW, Saturday, May 4th
Time: 11am to 1pm
Where: at the garden!

Plots that have been rented and paid for have been marked with wooden stakes. If gardeners ordered hay, it has been delivered to plots. We will be distributing hose reels to spigots, cover cropping vacant plots, and cleaning up the Food Pantry and Kid's garden areas. Bring snacks to share if you like!

Hey, LPCG gardeners! Check out this (rather disgusting) infographic of a nasty little critter that likes to hang out at our gardens each year. While tilling this weekend, Shannon unearthed one of these guys in the 3rd stage... It was massive(ly creepy). I've also been seeing heaps of them in the 2nd stage when turning the soil /w**ding in different plots to prepare for tilling. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and prepare for them this year. You'll be glad you did! Also, a friendly reminder that if you w**d your plot before it gets tilled, you'll be a very happy camper this growing season. It will also make it easier for our volunteers to maneuver the till through your soil. If you see Shannon or Jim around, thank them for their hard work by w**ding your plot! 💕

Heads up gardeners! Tilling happening this Friday and next weekend. We recommend stopping by your plot to manage w**ds or other plants if you can - you'll thank yourself later in the season!

Also, check it out! Jennifer is proof that work parties are fun! 😜 This was last weekend, and the weather was incredible! An important lesson for all gardeners (even us veteran growers) - wear sunscreen! I failed and am still nursing some hideous burns. SAFETY FIRST!
