How Long Should You Actually Cold Plunge?
Thinking about trying a cold plunge but terrified of freezing? Here’s the secret: you don’t have to stay in nearly as long as you think!
In our latest Backyard Breakdown with Brandon video, Brandon breaks down the golden rule of cold water therapy: Listen to your body.
When you first step into that chilly water, your body's initial reaction is going to tell you to get right back out! But if you can breathe through that initial mental hurdle and get past the first 15 seconds, your heart rate slows down, your mind clears, and your body adapts.
If you are just starting out, Brandon recommends keeping your first few sessions to just 1 to 2 minutes.
According to our friends at Spas, a 1–2 minute session is the perfect sweet spot for beginners. As your tolerance builds over time, you can gradually work your way up to 3–5 minutes for maximum recovery, resilience, and inflammation relief!
Remember, cold plunging isn't about breaking endurance records, it's about controlled, consistent exposure!
