Today is Women Veterans Day! It marks the 78th anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, signed into law by President Harry S. Truman on June 12, 1948.

Throughout our nation’s history, from the Revolutionary War to current conflicts throughout the world, women have protected America's freedom and will continue to do so in ever-increasing numbers.

On this special day, we honor you, our brave women veterans. Your dedication and sacrifices not only protect our freedoms but also empower others. Thank you for your service!

Women veterans – Share a fond memory of your time in service, your service branch, deployment, or a military photo of yourself in the comments. Happy Women Veterans Day!

This , we would like to highlight QPR Training Opportunities - known better as Question, Persuade, Refer - this is a specialized training that teaches how to recognize the warning signs of su***de in someone and get them the professional help they need. The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) remains vigilant and committed to education and prevention of veteran su***des in our state. Our Veteran Outreach and Recovery Program (VORP) continues to offer Wisconsin organizations the opportunity to partner with VORP and hold QPR Training opportunities throughout the state.

These training opportunities are open to veterans groups, medical facilities, schools, government entities, and others interested in learning more about effective su***de prevention. Participants will earn a QPR Gatekeepers Certificate.

⭐To find out more information, ask questions, or to schedule a training session with your organization, please contact Cal Stammer at [email protected]. More information on VORP can be found here: https://dva.wi.gov/services/mental-health-and-emergency-services/veterans-outreach-and-recovery/

One of the best ways to show you're a veteran upon request is on your Wisconsin Driver's License. In Wisconsin, veterans can request that their veteran status be included on their driver's license when renewing or applying for a new license with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

To get the veteran identifier on your WI driver's license or ID card:

⭐Verify your eligibility with the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs by contacting the Veterans Benefits Resource Center at: 1-800-WIS-VETS (800-947-8387) or at MyWisVets.com
OR --> Contact your local County or Tribal Veterans Service Officer to obtain certification of your veteran status for the identifier. Find your CVSO or TVSO here: https://dva.wi.gov/resources/find-my-cvso-tvso/

⭐Once you've established eligibility, then apply at the Wisconsin DMV. If renewing or getting your first driver's license or ID card, you'll need to visit your local DMV location. If it's not time to renew, you can get a duplicate product online.

🌟For more information, visit WDVA's website:
https://dva.wi.gov/benefits/driver-license/veteran-driver-license-id/

🌟Please visit the Wisconsin DOT website for additional information: https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/dmv/license-drvs/rnew-and-chge/veterans.aspx

The veteran identifier on your license allows veterans to more easily show their veteran status to organizations and businesses that offer unique benefits or discounts for goods and services for veterans. This is just one of the many benefits available to our state's veterans!
