As we raise the Pride flag at the Capitol, we are reminded that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued for who they are. I'm grateful for the many LGBTQ+ advocates, leaders, families, and friends who help make Wisconsin stronger every day. Together, we can continue building a state where everyone is welcomed, supported, and free to be themselves.

Today, we celebrate 178 years of Wisconsin statehood. I’m proud to call Wisconsin home and grateful for the people, communities, and values that make our state so special. As we honor our history, we also look forward to building an even stronger future together.

The work of the Wisconsin Association of Nurse Anesthetists helps support safer, stronger, and more accessible healthcare throughout our state. These healthcare professionals make a difference in the lives of patients and families every day. I appreciate their continued advocacy and dedication to improving care across Wisconsin.

Wisconsinites should not be forced to fund political violence or reward attacks on our democracy. Today, I introduced the No Taxpayer Dollars for Insurrectionists Act to ensure taxpayer money does not go to those involved in the January 6 insurrection. Accountability matters, and public dollars should reflect our values.

Today I am reminded of my visit to Westport Prairie with State Representative Alex Joers this time last year to learn more about the restoration of the historic Empire Prairie. It served as another example of both Wisconsin’s natural beauty and the importance of protecting these spaces for future generations. The same is true today. We must continue working to preserve our natural resources and invest in conservation efforts across our state.

This Memorial Day, we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. As we honor their sacrifice, I encourage everyone to find a small way to give back. Whether it’s by visiting a local cemetery, decorating a veteran’s grave, or simply taking a moment to learn the story of someone who served.

Tim Metcalfe throws an amazing party. He and his family along with other dedicated volunteers make Bratfest a huge success. The rides, food, concerts, community, and charitable giving make Bratfest the place to be this weekend. Thanks Tim for all you do for our community!
