The Morgan County Extension Office is hosting a program on Friday, June 26th, from 10 AM to 4:30 PM. This program is for those interested in starting a small farm operation, but who may have limited land or resources.

We will be discussing
- Small ruminants (sheep & goats)
- Backyard flocks
- Social media
- Pasture management
- Cut flowers

This program is completely free, and lunch will be provided! At the end, we will have raffle prizes and hear from our amazing sponsors. Speaking of sponsors! Proud to see one of Morgan County’s finest be recognized! We are so very thankful for all the time and energy that Ms. Carol puts into our dairy show team!!

Everett and Carol Williams own and operate WDairy in Madison, Georgia. The Williams met in college while attending the University of Georgia. After graduation, they got married and moved to South Georgia to work on a dairy before returning home to Madison. While growing their own operation, they've both stayed active in several organizations supporting the Georgia dairy industry and students. Everett is a past president and current member of the Georgia Milk Producers board of directors, and Carol is the president of the Georgia Dairy Youth Foundation. The Williams often host farm tours welcoming groups of students, educators, policymakers, local leaders, and travelers from across the country to learn more about dairy farming.

We are proud to see such well deserved recognition of one of our Morgan County dairies! Happy June Dairy Month!

Growing up, Megan Clark never imagined taking over the family dairy farm. But today, she couldn't imagine life any other way. Megan, along with her sister Ashley, own and operate Godfrey Dairy Farm in Madison, Georgia. Her father, Dave, started the dairy over 40 years ago with just 200 cows. Megan came back to the farm after college to help manage the bookkeeping, and watched the farm grow into a modern dairy facility milking over 1,000 cows. In 2019, Megan and Ashley inherited the farm and have continued to grow the operation.She and Asley value raising their families on the farm and the lifestyle it provides.

At Morgan County Extension and 4-H, we're proud to help youth learn about the dairy industry through hands-on educational opportunities.

Our Dairy Judging and Dairy Show teams give young people the chance to develop valuable skills in animal husbandry, decision-making, public speaking, responsibility, and teamwork while learning about the important role dairy cattle play in agriculture.

These experiences help youth build confidence, gain agricultural knowledge, and connect with an industry that provides nutritious food for families across our communities.
