Registration just opened for an America at 250 event that will be hosted at Pinney Library later this month! Join Madison Public Library and PBS Wisconsin for a community conversation marking America’s 250th anniversary on May 28 from 6-8pm.
This two-hour experience brings neighbors together to connect, reflect, and engage with the theme of the Spirit of Service—past and present. Through a mix of mingling, facilitated small-group discussion, and selected clips from The American Revolution—a six-part PBS documentary directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt—participants will explore service as a core American value. Together, we’ll consider how volunteerism, military service, civic participation, and public leadership have shaped our nation and continue to influence our communities today.
The conversation invites reflection on what service looks like in our own lives and how each of us can contribute to a stronger, more connected civic life. Attendees will also have the opportunity to register to vote or update their registration, enjoy light refreshments, and connect with neighbors in a welcoming, community-centered setting. Registration is required and is available online at madpl.org/america250
