The Junior League of Greater New Haven; We are women building better communities.

Founded in 1923, the Junior League of Greater New Haven has sought to effect positive change in the Greater New Haven community by promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and supporting the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Any woman committed to improving her community, regardless of race, religion, or national origin, is welcome and encouraged to join the J

unior League of Greater New Haven. Through workshops, guest speakers, and experiential training, the League organizes and trains over 135 active and sustaining members for effective action and leadership in the Greater New Haven community. The training our members receive through their volunteer service with the League enables them to continue to be the catalysts of lasting, positive change within their own businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations in the community.

The gavel has officially been passed! Last week, we celebrated the 2025-2026 league year with a beautiful outdoor dinner in New Haven. During the annual dinner we recognized the work of this year’s board, honored our High School Volunteerism Awardee, and passed the gavel to the new President for the 2026-2027 league year. It was a great night to be together as a league! Thank you to all our members, partners, donors and friends who made this year so special. ❤️

This month we’re partnering with to support their work in welcoming refugees and immigrants to greater New Haven and rebuilding a life with dignity. We will be collecting toiletries (see list above) at and between May 2nd - May 16th. Look for our donation boxes! Or feel free to reach out to our members directly for collection details.

This morning our members helped to sort, count, label and repackage hundreds of diapers, period products and incontinence products at the warehouse in North Haven! Our league has been collecting supplies at each GMM this year (donating over 2,000 products so far!) and are proud to continue to support and advocate for families in New Haven. 🩵

Why diapers? Nearly 1 in 2 families struggle to afford diapers to keep their babies clean, dry, and healthy. With the rising cost of basic needs for families, organizations like the Diaper Bank of Connecticut help raise awareness and provide these products to parents and families across the state. For information and to get involved check out or reach out to one of our members! We will be continuing to collect diapers, incontinence and period supplies throughout the league year - every donation makes a difference.

November GMM recap! We had a great meeting focused on impact reporting, goal setting, brainstorming ideas for outreach and community events, and of course how to both “find the good” and “keep the good”! It was a great discussion on purpose, how our small league can make a big impact, and how we can continue to support Greater New Haven and each other as move into the busy holiday season. 🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Junior League of Greater New Haven honors the strength of those affected by breast cancer and supports efforts to raise awareness, fund research, and promote early detection.

Last month, we recognized by volunteering at Connecticut Foodshare. We packed food to help combat food insecurity in our local communities.

Our commitment to women, children, and addressing food insecurity continues to remain at the top of our priorities.

Founded in 1982, Connecticut Foodshare is part of the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks. Their mission is to deliver an informed and equitable response to hunger by mobilizing community partners, volunteers, and supporters. From one end of the state to the other, they support individuals and families by addressing root causes, creating long-term solutions, and distributing nutritious food through local partner programs.
