Canopy Center will be at the City of Madison’s annual Safety Saturday on Saturday, June 13, thanks to the generous support of UW Health

Safety Saturday is a fun, family-friendly event where kids can explore first responder vehicles, participate in activities, watch demonstrations, and connect with local businesses and organizations.

We're excited to be part of this community event and share some of our own safety tips.

Welcome, Mellisa, our new Family Interaction Specialist Volunteer! 💙

Mellisa supports supervised visits through Canopy Center’s Parent to Child program, helping create a safe, positive space for children and families to spend time together.

As a Family Interaction Specialist, she provides guidance that supports healthy relationships and meaningful family connections.

When she’s not at Canopy Center, Mellisa enjoys going on walks, singing, reading and wandering the farmers market. We’re so grateful to have her on the team!

Consent matters. 💜

This Consent Zine is designed to help young people navigate conversations around sexual consent, boundaries, communication, and healthy relationships. Created to spark reflection and dialogue, it offers approachable, age-appropriate guidance on respect, bodily autonomy, and what healthy consent looks like.

Welcome Clara, who joins us a Case Coordinator! 🎉💙

Clara is no stranger to the CASA team - she previously served as an intern, where she made an impact by leading volunteer support groups and creating resource guides to help advocates build meaningful connections with the children they serve.

We are so excited to have Clara continue this important work in her new role. Her heart for children, dedication to volunteers and enthusiasm for the mission make her a wonderful addition to the team. Clara, we’re so glad you’re here!

Canopy Center serves children and families in our area through programs that focus on child abuse treatment and prevention.

A common misconception about the children we serve through our CASA of Dane & Columbia Counties program is that they all live in Dane or Columbia County.

While their court cases are here, children may be placed outside the county with relatives, foster families, or in treatment programs when there are no local options and it’s the safest or best fit for their needs. Some are placed elsewhere in Wisconsin - and we even serve children living in three other states.

From January to March, our CASA volunteers drove 5,429 miles to ensure every child has a trusted adult in their corner, advocating for their best interests. 💜
