Jefferson County BZA Public Hearing-
Appeal Application regarding administrative decision determining whether use of land as a data center is similar to listed uses in an I-2 Heavy Industrial Zone.
The Jefferson County Board of Zoning Appeals would like to address some concerns regarding the public hearing that will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Many rumors have been shared online via social media, and we would like to clarify exactly what the BZA is allowed to vote on regarding the appeal application. The BZA is only allowed to vote on this appeal regarding whether the Zoning Administrator was correct in their findings of whether a data center is a similar use in an I-2 Heavy Industrial Zone. The end result from the BZA will be either to affirm, modify, or reverse the decision of the Zoning Administrator.
The Jefferson County Board of Zoning Appeals kindly asks that, at the public hearing, everyone be respectful of one another. There will be no clapping, cheering, booing, or comments from the audience after a speaker has finished speaking. When called to speak, please approach the podium and state your name and address. Each speaker will be limited to three (3) minutes and will only be permitted to speak once. If anyone would like to allocate their time for another speaker to speak on their behalf, a maximum of two people may allocate their time to one person, and that speaker’s time will be limited to nine (9) minutes.
