Frontline Friday!!

Apparently someone hadn’t gotten the memo about our K9 program.

When a Madison woman decided to run from a City of Madison, Georgia Police Department Police officer this week, our newest K9, Dino, and his handler, Deputy Detweiler, got the call. Fresh out of training and on one of their first deployments together, K9 Dino quickly picked up the track and led deputies right where they needed to be.

The suspect wasn’t quite ready, because she ran straight into a perimeter set up by deputies and officers.

Great work by Madison Police, our deputies, Deputy Detweiler, and especially K9 Dino. It’s always good to see training pay off.

Welcome to Frontline Friday, Dino. We’d say that’s a pretty good way to start your career.

Frontline Friday!!

All week long, the question we heard from our Junior Deputy cadets was, “Are we going to be on Frontline Friday?” Well, cadets… here you go.

These young men and women spent the week learning about law enforcement through hands-on activities, meeting deputies, and getting an up-close look at the people and equipment that help keep Morgan County safe.

A special thank you to Doug Beaty with Country Financial for keeping our cadets fueled with snacks throughout the week and to Davin Youngblood with Atlanta Sod Farms for sponsoring our Friday lunch.

Thanks to all the deputies, staff, partner agencies, parents, and cadets who made this week a success.

Thank you to Georgia Department of Natural Resources - Georgia DNR for partnering with us for today’s Boater Safety Course. We also appreciate David Cannon with Madison Car Care for sponsoring breakfast and Christy Craft with Bo's Wrecker Service for sponsoring lunch.

The class filled up fast, and we’re grateful for the overwhelming interest. If you didn’t get a spot this time, don’t worry we’ll be hosting additional classes in the future.

UPDATE!! Y’all filled this class up fast. The upcoming Boater Safety Certification Course is now FULL.

Because of all the interest, we’ll be putting on more classes in the future. Thanks to everyone helping keep our waterways safe this summer.

Hey Morgan County Sheriff Hooks here with a special announcement. We are collaborating with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to bring you the Georgia boater education course. This course is offered free of charge to anyone who’s 12 years old or older and will be held right here at the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office on June 5th. If you were born on or after January 1, 1998, you must have this certification to operate a watercraft on the waterways of this state. So sign up fast as space is limited we hope to see you there.
