A BIG thank you to Greg Staffins with JGS Enterprise for providing lunch from Amici for our entire office!

We enjoyed pizza, wings, and salad, and even better fellowship! It’s moments like these that strengthen camaraderie among our deputies and build meaningful relationships with the community we’re proud to serve.

Thank you, Greg, for thinking of us and taking such great care of our MCSO family! 💙👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

Frontline Friday!!!

This driver decided 133 MPH on I-20 was a good idea. At that speed, there isn’t much room for a mistake, and things can go bad in a hurry.

When Sgt. Smith got him stopped, the driver pulled over on the left side of I-20 in the middle of the night. That put Sgt. Smith in a dangerous position between the interstate and the median while trying to make the traffic stop.

But here’s the bottom line: 133 MPH is dangerous, whether the interstate is busy or not. You can lose control, hit something in the road, or find yourself in a situation you simply don’t have time to react to.

Slow down. Make good decisions. And if you get stopped, pull over to the right.

FRONTLINE FRIDAY!!!

This one is pretty simple: slow down and buckle your kids up.

Deputy Detweiler stopped a female motorist for speeding on Eatonton Highway and found a three-year-old child in the vehicle who wasn’t properly restrained in a car seat.

He explained to her why that’s not something to take lightly. If she had been involved in a crash, that child could have been seriously injured or even ejected from the vehicle.

Nobody plans on having a wreck. That’s why you have to be prepared for the one you don’t see coming.

We’re proud to be part of the Central Region Traffic Enforcement Network (CRTEN) through Georgia GOHS, working with other agencies to make our roads safer.

Slow down. Put the phone down. Buckle your kids up. Every trip. Every time.

A few seconds of convenience isn’t worth a child getting hurt.

Two weeks into school, and now that we’ve (barely) survived school traffic … it’s time to shine the spotlight on the real MVPs.

Well… Deputy MVPs. 🚔😎

The SROs are officially back in Morgan County Schools—keeping kids safe, building relationships, and occasionally reminding everyone that school rules are, in fact, something you should follow.

We’ve got some new faces, some familiar faces, and a whole bunch of deputies who definitely understand their assignment.

They love these kids fiercely, show up when it matters, and somehow manage to keep a straight face through all the school-year shenanigans. Most of the time.

Here’s to another school year with this awesome crew! Let’s make it a good one!

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a reported threat involving a 14-year-old Morgan Middle School student. Deputies immediately began an investigation and worked closely with Morgan County Charter Schools to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As a result of the investigation, the juvenile was charged with Terroristic Threats and transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center.

I’ve said this many times before, and I’ll say it again: threats of school violence are not negotiable. Every threat will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. We have seen the devastating consequences when warning signs are ignored, and we will not take that chance with the safety of our students, teachers, or staff.

I appreciate the partnership with Morgan County Charter Schools and the swift actions taken by everyone involved. Keeping our schools safe requires all of us working together, and that’s exactly what we will continue to do.

Elementary School Traffic: May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor.
It's the first day of school, and that means our Deputies are reporting for duty... fueled by coffee, patience, and the hope that nobody invents a brand-new traffic pattern.
Here's how you can help:
✅ Follow the maps.
✅ Enter and exit where you're supposed to.
✅ Remember that "I've always done it this way" is not an approved traffic plan.
And to the Karens who think the rules don't apply because you're "just making a quick turn"... our deputies have already seen that episode. It's not a good one.
Be kind to our Traffic Deputies. They're out there in the Georgia heat trying to get hundreds of kids to school safely—not judging your driving decisions... unless you make them.
Please review the traffic maps and save them to your phone. There may be a test... and unlike your kids, you don't get extra credit for making your own route.
Let's make this school year about getting kids to class—not starring in the What's Happening in MOCO Facebook drama.
See y'all out there! Stay safe! 💙🖤
