🇵🇱Dedication of General Kazimierz Pułaski (Casimir Pulaski) Monument – May 16, 2026🇵🇱

We are pleased to share news of an upcoming event of deep historical and cultural significance to both the Polish and American communities.
A new monument honoring General Kazimierz Pułaski (Casimir Pulaski) hero of the American Revolutionary War and widely recognized as the “Father of the American Cavalry”.

This monument was created by Wisconsin artist Boleslaw Kochanowski, in collaboration with his sons August and Vincent.
The monument represents a unique multi-generational effort that brings history to life through contemporary craftsmanship. Designed and fabricated in Central Wisconsin, the piece features a cast bronze bust of General Pulaski mounted on a Corten (weathering steel) base, blending traditional sculptural techniques with modern metalwork.

General Pulaski, a Polish nobleman and military commander, came to America to support the Revolutionary War and played a crucial role in developing the Continental Army’s cavalry. His legacy remains a powerful symbol of freedom, sacrifice, and the enduring connection between Poland and the United States.

“This is more than a sculpture—it’s a story of freedom, sacrifice, and shared history,” said Kochanowski. “To create this as a family makes it especially meaningful.”

The dedication ceremony is sponsored by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Missouri, headed by Wojciech Golik, and is being held in collaboration with representatives of the Republic of Poland and the broader Polish-American community. The event is expected to draw attendees from across the United States and Poland, including Polish-American organizations, veterans groups, and public officials.

The event is open to the general public.

May 3
🇵🇱Poland celebrates NATIONAL CONSTITUTION DAY (Narodowe Święto Konstytucji 3 Maja) which commemorates the enactment of the Polish Constitution that came into effect on May 3, 1791.
📜The Constitution of May 3, 1791 is considered one of the most important achievements in the history of Poland, despite being in effect for only one year, until the Russo-Polish War of 1792.
📜It was the first constitution in modern Europe and second in the world, following the Constitution of the United States. It was a significant achievement of the Polish Enlightenment thinkers.
📜May 3 was established as a National Holiday only days after the constitution was passed by the Grand Sejm (Polish Parliament). However, it was later suspended for many years due to the country’s partitioning, but was eventually reinstated in April 1919 under the Second Polish Republic – the first holiday officially introduced in the newly independent country. The holiday was again outlawed during World War II by both N**i and Soviet occupiers and even after World War II, in 1946, the communist authorities also banned the holiday’s public celebration. The National Constitution Day celebration (Narodowe Święto Konstytucji 3 Maja) was officially cancelled in 1951 and officially restored as a Polish holiday in April 1990, after the fall of communism.

Below are two paintings tied to the history of Polish Constitution.

🎨Adoption of the Polish Constitution of May 3, 1791. The painting depicts King Stanislaus Augustus together with members of the Grand Sejm and inhabitants of Warsaw entering St John's Cathedral in order to swear in the new national constitution just after it had been adopted by the Grand Sejm in the Royal Castle visible in the background. May 3rd Constitution was the first written national constitution in Europe, and the world's second, after the United States Constitution. The May 3rd Constitution was adopted by the Sejm of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth on May 3, 1791.

MAY 2
🇵🇱Flag Day - Dzień Flagi🇵🇱
(formally: Flag of the Republic of Poland Day, Dzień Flagi Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej) has been celebrated in Poland since an act of parliament passed in February 2004.
🇵🇱Polish Flag Day commemorates raising of the Polish flag on the Victory Column in the city of Berlin on May 2, 1945, at the end of the Battle of Berlin. The flag was hoisted by Polish Army troops who fought alongside their Soviet allies.
🇵🇱The national flag of Poland is a horizontal bi-color. The upper stripe is white and the lower stripe is read. These colors has been officially considered the national colors of Poland since 1831. Both of them were present on the coats of arms of Poland and Lithuania, two constituent nations of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
🇵🇱The flag of Poland was officially adopted in 1919. There is a variation of the flag that contains the national coat of arms in the middle of the upper stripe. It is used at sea and abroad. The naval ensign of Poland also has a swallow-tail.
🇵🇱The national flag of Poland is flown continuously on the presidential palace and the parliament.
