We are thrilled to welcome Corrin Harrington to TeamICC!

A little about Corrin:

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Art Therapy from Edgewood College, and have recently graduated with my Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, doodling, painting, baking, exercising, and spending time outdoors. Most evenings, you’ll find me with one of my many sketchbooks, adding a new creation.

Researchers from the Child Mind Institute in New York and the Italian Institute of Technology analysed brain scans from 940 autistic individuals, cross-referencing patterns against 20 mouse models to trace the biology behind what they were seeing.

They found two completely distinct autism subtypes — reproducible across dozens of independent research sites worldwide.

The first — hypoconnectivity — shows reduced communication between brain regions, linked to synaptic pathways.

The second — hyperconnectivity — shows the opposite. Brain regions over-communicate, driven by immune-related biological systems.

“For decades, we’ve observed tremendous variability in how autism manifests, but we lacked direct evidence that these differences reflected distinct underlying biology,” said lead researcher Dr. Alessandro Gozzi.

Now there is evidence.

This doesn’t change what autism is. It begins to explain why it looks so different in every single person who has it.

This Sunday, Hamilton on Broadway is doing something it has never done before.

For the first time in the show’s history, Hamilton is hosting a TDF Autism Friendly Performance — a special 1pm show at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on May 31 designed specifically for autistic audiences, their families, and anyone with sensory or communication differences.

Here’s what makes it different from a regular performance.

Jarring sounds are reduced. Strobe lights and spotlights that shine into the audience are adjusted. The lobby has staffed break areas where anyone who needs a moment can step away without missing everything. The entire audience understands — because they’re all there for the same reason.

TDF has been running Autism Friendly Performances on Broadway since 2011, when they launched the program with The Lion King. In the 14 years since, they’ve brought sensory-friendly performances of Hamilton, Wicked, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, MJ The Musical, and dozens more to autistic audiences who had previously been shut out of live theatre entirely.

This season alone — nine productions. The most TDF has ever offered in a single season.

Sunday’s Hamilton show is already sold out. But if you want to be added to the waiting list you can on the Tsar website.

And if you’ve never been able to take your child to a Broadway show because of sensory overwhelm — this program exists for you. It has existed for 15 years. Share this so more families know.
